ESPN suggests the Giants trade Brandon Marshall now

Jim Bob Cooter : 10/5/2017 10:37 am

Less than two months after signing Marshall, the Giants used their first-round pick for receiving tight end Evan Engram, who runs routes that might typically go to Marshall. If Marshall were available, the price would probably be as low as a seventh-rounder, according to multiple execs who didn't seem excited by the prospect.

He is under contract for next year, btw

I get that they can cut him in the offseason. But the point of my post was that there is no benefit to trading him away. If he's that bad you simply bench him.

We are four games into the season, he will get more than that to bounce back.
Speaking only for myself

I was/am looking for him to always fight for the ball and to generally catch it when he's targeted...

.... Maybe they can put together a full game soon and when other teams start triple teaming Beckham and paying more attention to Engram Marshall will make his catches. I'm not sure what everyone was looking for from him ....
For what?

A bag of biscuits?
However, if he wants to be traded, hold out for at least 1/2 a bag; or a conditional 7th(if he catches 5 passes more than he drops this season for the new team).

Maybe Cleveland's interested....
It was mentioned before

To bring Marshall in to block and release from the Line of Scrimmage, then have Engram to take Marshall's position on some plays as a receiver. Marshall runs better inside routes. Engram can beat DB's on the outside. It's like when JPP and Vernon change sides. It would be hard to prepare for. I think it could work. Actually Engram has better one on one release moves off the line.

for the database i/o of this thread than the value of this trade idea or what would be returned to the Giants via trade.
Marshall is not playing great
GeorgeAdams33 : 10/5/2017 8:23 pm : link
but I really do wish that some of you would just quit with all the whining about Travis Rudolph. It's just laughable. The guy went undrafted and did not make the team yet some of you act like he can be an all pro. Just cut it out, all of you. It's beyond pathetic. Rudolph will never be a difference maker in the NFL. Get over it.
Marshall is not as bad as he has shown

so far this year. He also did make a few key catches in between a few drops. Before this season is over he will be looking much better
Oh Please stop with this O-line improving joke .

Hart was a what 7th round pick no draft day pundit had this
kid as starting material . Most looked at him as a guard
with some seasoning work in the weight room .
Flowers has been a disaster and he didn't correct some of the
fundamental flaws in his game . Signing John Jerry to a
three year deal made zero sense .
Marshal has had little time to develop with Eli coming into
a new system and unfortunately getting injured early on .
We could see in pre-season we were gonna see more of the
same from last season . Total inability to run the ball .
There plenty of ways in FA to shore up this line and with
the draft . When you gamble away the better part of 6 years
of your star QB's career its time for a clean sweep .
Marshall is the least of our worries and I think he will
improve as the season wears on sure he has had some
drops but so hasn't everyone else .
0-5 looks like reality if JPP and Vernon are still hurt

Plus the OL wil get demolished by Charger pass rush. Wasting Eli’s last 5 year’s should be enough to get any GM fired but the Giants don’t things like this. They fire a coach instead.

The Maras are milking the family business and are not going anywhere. Reese and crew are protected PC hires. The fans are the least of their worries if they keep making $$$. Maybe Tisch will intervene like he did with Coughlin, he is all about the bottom line. We need new blood in management bad.

Good to know that in addition to being a moron you're likely a racist. Protected PC hires? The guy won two fucking Super Bowls.

yeah his comment was just stupid. In fact, they could have easily fired Jerry and Ross when they fired Coughlin. A clean sweep and nobody would have accused the Giants of anything.
They didn't fire Spagnuolo or McAdoo either
jcn56 : 10/7/2017 8:11 pm : link
They looking out for the Italians? Something mafia related?

Coaches tend to have a shorter lifespan. Coughlin's age was a factor. Reese's race wasn't.

Reese could easily get it after this season. If the Giants feel that they can make an upgrade, they're going to fire Reese and not face a single question about whether race played a factor, so implying that he's protected because of it is straight up idiotic.
One of the dumber threads and series of posts I have seen in a while

Marshall has plenty of drops but he is still a favorable matchup for us. Maybe if Giant offense actually came out ready to play during the 1QTR of games we could actually throw him some targets and get him into the flow of the game.

Criticizing him as a selfish, lazy WR is laughable. What the hell did you all think we were getting...Steve Largent??

Feed the diva the ball, and you will start liking him more.

Or go ask Cruz to come back chuckleheads...
