Right now, we're probably looking at 0-7 heading into the bye. There's a realistic chance right now, especially with the injury to OBJ (and others appearing to drop like flies - this is just the start), that the Giants have the first overall pick. Even right now I'd bet on a top 3 pick being very likely.
Baker Mayfield could be a top pick in the draft and I've been on the side the firmly believes Eli still is very capable of winning a championship with the Giants. But, the state of the franchise right now looks like a team that is transitioning. I don't believe McAdoo and this regime will be back. I can't fathom the Mara's sticking with Reese and I expect a full house clean. With that, I expect the QB position and all current assets to be seriously looked at. Eli, OBJ, etc.
Will we see Eli moved? Is that a realistic possibility to then pave the way for a new younger top-talent QB to come in? The WR corps (assuming they re-sign and keep OBJ long-term) is pretty solid. The OL is obviously a mess. There's a solid core of players on defense that I think as you continue to build around can be elite.
The question is, who's going to trade for Eli and his massive contract? He's not Peyton, but I still think plenty of teams that are looking for a QB would trade for him.
It's not how I envisioned the end of his career in NY, but I'm starting to see that as a realistic possibility if this team continues to completely go bust this season and ends up with a top pick. And, at some point, whoever is running the Giants heading into the 2018 offseason needs to seriously evaluate without compassion the team's assets and ability to compete. Other teams have been getting younger and much more talented while we've floundered for the last half-decade.
2. Eli is not coming off 4 neck surgeries, missing a complete year, and unsure if he'll ever play again.
imo, trading Eli (if possible) for picks and or etc. would be ideal. hate though to see him in another uni..but it may be beneficial for both parties. however, you have to know this a business when you let sentiments get in the way then you are going to make mistakes. it's a business
Add a couple of O linemen, another WR, RB, LB, DT and this team could be very good next year.
Oh, and fire the coach

This.
And did the Colts end up better going that route?

Excellent point.
He made sure he could control his own destiny in this situation.
When Peyton went to Denver he was still good.
Jacksonville Jaguars- With Coughlin in Jacksonville, Eli might also feel comfortable going there. They are in desperate need of a QB and are young and about ready, they could be a contender for Eli’s 2 or 3years left.
You’re missing the point. It doesnt matter if its eli or not. It’s not often you have the opportunity to draft a franchise QB and there’s no debating that eli is at the end of his career. If you have the opportunity to draft someone who you think can be your QB for the next 10+ yrs you take it. And if you take it then you do not extend eli after his contract expires. It’s really that simple.

Why would Eli stay? This team is about to be blown up. It's in his best interests to move on.

It’s the fact the offensive line needs to be upgraded and the head coach needs to go. They were running the ball down the chargers throat in the first period then he abandoned it. Is inability to put his skill players in position to get favorable matchups I believe has led to players pressing which leads to injuries . McAdoo needs to go.

The Colts are 51-34 and trending downward -- that's after drafting the spawn of Jesus Christ/Joe Montana, Andrew Luck.
Drafting a QB just ensures perpetual mediocrity or worse for this franchise for the foreseeable future.

He has to be cut/not have his option picked up..

It's not about staying (though I do think he has built his life in NJ/NY and probably would stay if given the choice), it's about entirely choosing where he goes and allowing that team to acquire him without mortgaging anything.
He doesn't have the same value to another team if they have to give something up for him vs just sign him as a FA, cut from another squad.
I'm surprised it took this long. I stopped reading once I came to Baker Mayfield being the top pick in the draft
Eli is also impossible to cut with all the money he's still owed. He has to be on the roster for 2018. After 2018 there's only 1 year left on his deal so the cap hit isn't so severe

Yes, they did, it’s a terrible point. LUck is hurt now and was last year, but in the first three years in league he dramatically improved colts and brought them to the championship game in Foxboro. They also get the rest of his career. If Peyton had stayed there, would he have won as much maybe, maybe not. But just look at the quality of football that they have had since Luck went down. Any team that is drafting that high with a 36 year old qb and doesn’t draft a qb that they can think will be a franchise an for 15 years is making bad move. Josh Rosen is what 20, he will be fine on bench until!we can move on from Eli. And I love Eli and do not think he is done.

1. No QB in this draft is a can't miss QB.
2. The OL would ruin the career of the QB even if he was good.
3. The offensive scheme is rotten.
RE: Luck, the point is the Colts are no where near a championship and show no signs of going in that direction, with or without him.
I guess it comes down to what you value as a fan. I always thought the goal was championships.
