The day after

CMicks3110 : 10/9/2017 7:23 am
the worst day in Giants history in some time, and it seems the end of the Eli Manning era in New York.

The Giants are 0-5, without OBJr and with a daunting schedule in front of them. This team is toast and it's unfortunate because we all had such high hopes for this season.

I love Eli as much as the next guy, but at this point in his career he is not a difference maker nor is he the future. I know Eli has his streak thing, but that should be secondary to what our future needs are. We should start Webb at some point to see what we have in him headed into next year.

I would love to trade Eli down to Jax and grab a draft pick or two if possible, but who knows what the front office is thinking at this point.

I must say that if there was any year to tank this might be a good year given the QB talent coming out next year.

Adios Reese & McAdoo. And go after Eli's replacement.

you know Mara will not..he wants "continuity" and wouldn't be at all surprised if he's not really as upset about any of this as the fans. in fact, may be saying just a few more pieces to roster and all is well
Eli might not be Giants QB next season

But they would never bench him after all he s done for them.

Jacksonville is 3-2 with two young quarterbacks, what makes you believe they would surrender a high pick for a 39 year old immobile quarterback.

The Giants have 11 games left, the GM, many of the players and possibly the coach are playing for theirs jobs.

They will play the guys they believe will give them the best chance to win.

Fans can write off a season, those guys cannot.
I hope Davis Webb plays some

not start of course but to see what the Giants have in this QB. If he shows potential, they could forego some of those highly touted QB, trade down, get a boatload of picks and rebuild. If Webb is good.....l
Not feeling any better

This franchise is in trouble. I mean big trouble. It starts at the top and trickles down right to the 53rd man on the roster. Having an older roster with no talent and rebuilding is one thing. This roster is quite young (6th youngest) with a franchise QB and a good number of talented players (losing more to injury by the week). And we are now likely staring at a 2/3 win season, after some predicted the team would win the division and/or be a darkhorse SB team. The culture stinks. The team is totally unlikable and has been for years. Something of significance should be done after this miserable season is complete. Enough is enough. The amount of bad football over the last 6 years is completely unacceptable.
I have no interest in playing Webb just to see what he has

regardless of whether he's actually ready to be a starting QB in the NFL. If he's ready to be a starter, then he should get a couple of games. If he's not ready, then it doesn't help him or us to throw him out there for a few games. One thing that obviously needs to happen is he needs to be taking all/any practice reps that Geno Smith is getting.

We're not going to have more than 4 wins this season (4 might be a stretch), so we'll be in prime position to take a QB. I seriously doubt that anything we see from Webb this season will stop us from doing that.

I also want Wayne Gallman to play more. Evan Engram needs to be featured in the offense more than he has been to this point. Every 2 and 3 TE play we have in the offense needs to be dusted off.

What QB are you watching? Eli is 36.
The crazy thing is ...
FStubbs : 10/9/2017 8:01 am : link
... this team could go 1-15 and end up with the third pick in the draft.
Even crazier is you assuming

We will win 1 game...
You will learn close to nothing putting Davis Webb in this year
SLIM_ : 10/9/2017 8:11 am : link
Have you seen this offense? It is moderately functionable with a top 10 player in Beckham. He is gone for the year and who knows about Marshall/Sheppard. He will be playing with 1970 expansion team talent around him and a bad scheme. Let him sit.

Our offense will be impossible to stop
hitdog42 : 10/9/2017 8:12 am : link
Because without obj they won’t know where the ball is going........ or something like that was said?
Not sure other wrs are going to want to go across the middle when obj and ss both decimated by high over the middle throws

I wasn't aware the word "could" was redefined to mean "will" but nice try.
I actually think they bring back McAdoo
Simms11 : 10/9/2017 9:51 am : link
and Reese. I think they are now tied at the hip. Additionally, I think they bring back Eli for one more year too. I think they’ll give them one last shot next year to turn this around. After that, all bets are off and I think there will be a clean sweep, including Eli. I know it’s not going to be a popular decision, but I think that’s the route this ownership takes. They’ve always proven to be patient and not overreact.

With that said, I think there will be forced changes to the staff, possibly OC, Oline coach, and possibly a few others, even on D. I think the offensive scheme has to be reworked by an OC that is experienced in this league. Possibly even player personnel in front office, namely Ross. I also think they need someone to help the scouts, a consultant, to look at LBers and Oline because we have been horrendous at selecting them.

After next year, the whole thing will get blown up and we start all over. That could spell some more dark days ahead however.

I would agree the Mara's give this one additional year
jsuds : 10/9/2017 11:46 am : link
and will obviously direct Reese to strengthen the O-Line via the draft and free agency.

With all the injuries to WR now they probably don't expect the team to win many games if any this year. And I don't think that can be put on the coach.

However, the owners certainly will look for evidence this team has quit and if MacAdoo can't keep the players focused then he may well be fired.

My only concern is that with the limited weapons Eli will now have, he may end up getting killed. I am praying they just run the ball the rest of the way and do something to ensure our QB is protected.

1. Eli is 36 not 39.

2. He has history with TC.

3. Jax QBs are garbage.

The bigger question is if Eli will allow a trade if there is interest.
