They are real fast up front. Shero emphasizes speed and skill and now that he has turned the roster over uou really see it. They scored a ton in the pre season and it has carried over. Jesper Bratt a former 6th rd. pick is doing his Syd the kid immitation through 2 games. Well take our lumps withe the kids but the future is bright.
19 year old Jesper Bratt finally looks like a late round find by the FO. He has carried over his great preseason to the regular season. Nice to see Johansson break out with his first big game as a Devil. I know it's early but you can just tell that Hischier is going to be a star. He won't be a McDavid or Matthews but he will become a great player for this team for a long time.
I look forward to seeing what happens when 2016 1st round pick Michael McLeod does when he returns from injury. He was one of the fastest skaters in his draft class and he could join the Devils upon his return. He is a C but he could also play RW which is the Devils thinnest position. We should also see the arrival of RW Blake Speers this season.
No Palms, Stafford, Zajac, or Boyle. And this team was flying all over the ice. The devils forechecking was relentless. Nico Bratt, and Butcher amazing young players. Back to back games 3o+ plus sog.
Very interesting 3 games ahead- Wed @Tor, Friday Washington, Sat. @NYR. We'll get a little better idea of just where the team stands here in the early stages. Shame Wednesday's game is the same time as the Yanks, that should be a really entertaining game.
The Leafs 3rd line is JVR Bozak Marner. Several teams would be thrilled to have that as their 1st line. Hopefully Palmieri will play so that Hayes doesn't get 2nd line minutes at RW.

For those who follow more closely, any chance at playoff contention this season or are they still a year or 2 away?

playoff chances are slim but they could keep things interesting for most of the year.
