I feel worse because of the expectations, which were sky high. I blame myself because I know that the Giants always disappoint when we believe they are good, except for '86.
I really have grown to dislike McAdoo and his offense but the real culprit is the defense as we expected them to play so much better. The real truth is the Giants are playing complimentary football. If it's not the OL, the RBs, the Wrs drops, the missed blocks by the TEs, or Eli telegraphing his intension, it's the defense not making any key stops or a shank punt or missed kick or big runback. As McAdoo has stated, complimentary football as every area is to blame.
What to do about it?
I doubt the Giants clean house. I would put McAdoo on a one way bus but they won't unless things get far worse.
Like it or not, Reese is safe. We can blame him for the OL and Lber as there is shaky talent in those areas but overall this team has enough talent to win. They are just not playing well together and that is on the coaches.
Eli's time is running out which makes these recent failures so frustrating. I truly thought we had one more. The Super Bowls seem like ages ago but no team has won more trophies this pass decade then the Giants and Pat's.
I kidded before the Chargers game that things couldn't get worse. Boy, was I mistaken...what happened during that game is simply unbelieviable! Are the Giants cursed!
What do the Giants do now? The season is over. I do not see a win anytime soon.
So next year, how do they fix this mess?
I really do not expect anything drastic but I have no faith in these coaches.
The draft have some great QBs, OTs and RBs.
What a waste of a season! This truly sucks.
My prayers go out to everyone that got injured and hope for a full recovery
Even still, please do not let the injuries give Ben and Jerry a free pass
It's hard to imagine if this team doesn't win more than 4 games, how at least the HC survives. Especially if what appears to be him losing the team continues the remainder of the season. While Mac's offense produced when he was the OC, his offense has sucked while serving as the HC. As the OC, he had a leader of men and 2 SB champion Coughlin leading the way.
But I expect that stuff to be controlled. The Giants players are usually more mature. The injuries and his success last year will save him imo.
We can debate Reese and Ross. I understand their poor job with the Oline but it's not limited to the Giants as many teams are having issues. I feel the owners think Reese has done a good job overall. Again, 2 Super Bowls under his watch.....and the rest of the NFC East zero during that time. I know most want their heads.....but it won't happen.
I put this a little more on the coaching staff than the front office. On paper this was a pretty good roster at the beginning of the season. It's up to the coaches to make it work.
OL...To say Reese ignored the OL is fantasy. But the moves did not work out. Who did the Giants pass on who you can say was a mistake? Whitworth maybe...Tunsil...what has he done? Was expecting a player to get better from year 2-3 really that wrong? Players do get better with experience. Injury is what usually makes them worse.
I don't know...just musing here.
0-5, injuries piling up (starting 3 WRs all out), team in complete disarray, its hard to imagine things could get any worse.
This has been the mantra for 5 years now. This team is done. Time to reboot.
With how things are falling apart, the way the season ended last year, including the dumb fuc%%ng boat trip and how things are going now, I would say nobody is SAFE! This team, minus last years run which now appears to have been a mirage, needs a facelift. It needs a change in the locker room and that includes players and coaches and the GM as far as I am concerned.
McAdoo gets another year.
Giants career end: Richburg, Harris, Marshall.
Maybe Reese manages to survive. However, there is a lot of conventional wisdom and assumptions on BBI that pass for fact.
It all ties into his overuse of 11 personnel, his 3 run plays. (As Tiki pointed out 2 weeks ago.) etc.
This isn't even touching on his lack of people skills. Even as someone who called him Ray Handley as soon as he was hired, it's almost hard to comprehend how truly bad McAdoo is. He's Mangini without the scheme. I highly doubt he will be anything more than a position coach whenever he's relieved of his duties here.
Quote:
in the off-season. Get the oline straightened out, another tall receiver, veteran RB (preferably someone with power), and another OC. On D need a speedy LBer who can cover, another pass rusher and CB depth. Giants also will have an easier schedule next year and a very good draft position in each round. Biggest question I have is who wl be making the selections in the draft.

1 winning season the last 6 years. What does it take to get the message.
But the contracts that really piss me off were the ones given to Dwayne Harris, J.T. Thomas, Casillas and Vereen. $18M to Rhett Ellison? Anyone remember the O'Brien Schofield deal?
RIDICULOUS contracts. Weren't the Cowboys laughing at us for giving Harris $17M?
All the while whiffing on Brandon Graham and Devin McCourty who would be much-needed right now and a bargain at their current deals.
Incompetence in UFA and the draft.
Guy needs to go.
They have 1000s to buy them.....
As fans.....we want wins and really do not know how to fix this problem. The Giants have a ton of issues but could have won any of these games.
