Justin went to the game on sunday and was rooting for our boys to win it. "Just get the W " he said on instagram..
well afterwards i asked him, I cant put my finger on what is the problem with the team. I mean is it Eli, is it the coach.
he said "one word- LEADERSHIP."
i guess i can agree.
your thoughts?
who better than an ex-alcoholic to tell you who is an alcoholic?
Huh?
1. Strahan and Armstead showed a lack of leadership. And it was reflected in the team's performance.
2. What Coughlin did to Tuck in 2011 was leasership. Antrel Rolle also called him and others out in public. Leadership.
I hate to say that but I think that is the only way action will be taken to get rid of this general manager and several of those in the personnel department who seem to believe they have jobs for life and produce nothing.
I'm not sure anything else but a complete and total disaster will force a change. Even that might not do it.
I have absolutely no words of optimism to offer.
This is just a team that looks rudderless. And with the WR corp decimated . . . engineless as well.
It is a fatal flaw.
But, all they are lacking is somebody to yell at other players. Yeah, that's the ticket.
The rest of the game sucked but the fans and vibe were great as usual.
No, coaches.
That said, I think he's right because I don't care for Reese, McAdoo, or the rest of the coaching staff. In terms of player leadership, Eli is about the only one to be trusted. JPP has not stepped up. OBJ is a great player, but not a leader. There is not really anyone on the OL that can hold much weight. Collins and DRC and maybe Jenkins way be the only other potential leaders.
OBJ saying publicly that Bucs' players told him they knew what routes they were going to run.
Eli Apple saying it's not one guy, it's the "whole culture."
Janoris Jenkins leaving the field early.
So many of the top players, particularly on defense, not performing up to quite the same level as last year, which could be indicative of a motivation issue.
To me, there are more signs like this, and if the team displays a lack of the will to fight through adversity, then there is no choice but to fire McAdoo either during this season or immediately after, and Reese must be evaluated as well.
The Giants are certainly at a crossroads, and how they navigate the next 6 months or so could determine the fate of the franchise for at least the next several seasons if not much longer.
Maybe he can call the kettle black because he has been on both sides of that equation; so he is in a unique position to understand the issue.
On the other hand, the guys who have been picking their draft choices seem to have mostly been missing the mark for a few years now (with a scant few exceptions).
