Because Spags, Sullivan, KG Jr and Quinn are all the reason why we are 1-6. The offense super genius who is smarter than everyone in football just needs a whole new staff and then we would be good.
He should have taken another job. It's not like he didn't have plenty of time to interview with other teams while the Giants took their sweet time. But he didn't get any other offers. This was the best he could do.
He defense is a whole lot more fun to watch then a Lewis style system. He's not prefect but i can deal with that, at least he's trying with a scheme that i agree with.
Ben, don't know what to think of him. People say he's smart, he tries to be Coughlin like in his interviews with the press, i hate his hair, but noon of that has to do with football.
I don't like that it took injuries to see that Fluker should be playing and that the RB should have been 3rd string, and that he shouldn't be calling the plays.
RE: McAdoo should be given the chance to hire his own staff Â
and not get stuck with the likes of Spags, Sullivan, KG Jr and Quinn. All owner favorites.
as much as i think mcadoo has been vomit-worthy this season, i agree with this sentiment. it is ridiculous and aggravating that ownership is emboldened to force coordinators and position coaches on the head coach like this.
i guess in some instances in the past, a version of this worked (i.e., forcing coughlin to jettison hufnagel and lewis, and later sheridan) so maybe that made mara think he's smarter than he actually is. who knows.
with his lack of acquiring any decent help on defence when T.C. was here, and don't get me started about his stupidity concerning the O.L.
Reese let T.C. take the brunt of his stupidity, then promoted Slickback Mac to take the place of my favourite former coach.
Yes, I want McAdoo gone, but I want Reese gone first!
I want to see someone who understands how to prep a team in the current CBA.
Offensively, I'm jealous of KC, and how they start off well and score plenty without one of the league's best QB's. I'd like to see what Brad Childress could do if given another shot. He's not super-young, but at 62 next year still has the time to build a functioning team. As assistant head coach currently he should probably be on top of several teams' lists of potential candidates.
If you want to try someone younger on the offensive side, I'd look at Matt Nagy, co-offensive coordinator at KC. He's an up-and-comer who knows the offensive system that's working so well in KC.
To rebuild the defense, I hate to admit it but I'm super jealous of how good the Dallas defense performs given the talent they have. Every year we think their defense should be one of the worst on paper, yet they seem to play well and are again a top ten unit. Marinelli may be the key, but I'm intrigued by defensive assistant Turner West and would like to see us interview him as a possible coordinator. Other top defenses seem to have a lot of talent, and it's tough to know whether it's the talent or the system that keeps teams like Denver and Seattle perpetually at the top of the defensive rankings.
If we wanted a defensive coach I'm one who would give serious consideration to Matt Patricia of NE. I know their defense sucks this year, but he's super-bright and has accomplished so much coming up under the GOAT HC.
Love to hear other ideas as well.
RE: RE: McAdoo should be given the chance to hire his own staff Â

So is that why the Giants are losing ? It has nothing to do with McAdoo and his play calling ? Its all because he's got lousy assistants. is that it ?
Not for nothing, but when you O/C says he knows nothing about the Offense that McAdoo runs..and offense OBTW that Eli thrived under for 2 years, then yes I place blame on an O/C who can't be trusted because he doesn't know the offense. So now you have a Head Coach who pretty much needs to call the plays and run the team. If he gets to pick his own staff, maybe that doesn't happen.
That being said, the offense doesn't work anymore and something needs to change there
it does not matter who is assistants are. I do not like what I see from him on the sideline. He did not realize that his play calling was the problem and that role had to be taken from him.
I will second that .. Like to be a mouse in the room when grease balls Â
Reese screwed the pooch for years....

Our DE's who are making mega-dollars--often hurt and provide limited at best production. 1-6 team and JPP has performed in 1 game so far at a level of what was expected. The other guy hurt last year and hurt again this year. The D has taken a turn backwards this year in my mind because these 2 are no where near playing up to their salaries. Paper Lions.
Maybe statistically.....but this offense only moved because we had OBj.....take him out of the equation, and would Eli have thrived for two years?
This offense is stale, unimaginative, and predictable.....and when we are trailing, we still dink and dunk in the fourth quarter because that's all we have for an offense.....
I understand the so-called reasoning for hiring Mac, supposedly for smooth transition of the offense with Eli......but if that was the main reason, it hasn't worked.....it just seems that MAC wants to run an offense without the right personnel to run it, instead of taking the strengths of his individual players, and capitalizing on it....
If Reese goes, then we'll see who the new GM selects. Â

They did it to TC. McAdoo was given the job by Mara. Hard to complain now since that’s the way he got the job. I’ve posted
This before. His offense isn’t shit without OBJ. He most likely has almost no input on D. Yeah he should interview guys who he should be working for. No thanks. He needs to go. Never should have been given the job.
need to take a backseat in the football side of the front office. Not going to happen.
McAdoo needs to go, but the insane rash of injuries may have saved his job. He was doing a good job of losing it before the injuries, and the season was already likely lost, but you can't expect him to turn the season around with this set of WR. unless he completely loses the team, or unless the Maras scapegoat Reese for their own shortcomings, he probably returns.
yeah that's possible when you are dealing with John Mara. At this point anything is an improvement over wackadoo.
The thing that bothers me is people get distracted by a good run last year by the defense catapulting the team into the playoffs. Let's step back and look at this team over the past few years.
1. We had an all time worst defense on the field before we were embarrassed into spending $200 million to fix it.
2. We have had one of the worse running games in the league for the past few years
3. We have had the worst offensive line in the league for the past few years. It not the worst, bottom three...
4. We have had opposing players say publicly that they knew what plays we were going to run. We have all known this for a while but it was finally confirmed.
5. Our special teams have been near the bottom of the league for a while
This is a combination of player selection and coaching. What exactly are we risking by cleaning house? This team is NOT close.
I’m not sure what football team you follow closely but it’s not the Giants if you think the Mara’s are going to hire a new GM and give him actual authority over picking the players and the coaching staff. Hasn’t been that way since 2011 and won’t be that way anytime soon.
How on Earth have they transformed so dramatically from a team people thought were tanking into one of the best AFC teams?
I read in another forum that they simply play more mistake-free, efficient, effort-filled football. If that's the case, you'd have to think that's primarily due to a coaching change, no?

Yep. It’s impossible to predict with these coaches, but McDermott looks good.
smh... Oh let's bring in Chip Kelly as HC. ugh.
One or the other
Just sayin'

And enough offensive guys. I want a defensive minded coach in here for a change. Get back to Giants football.

Playoffs last year
Tons of injuries - critical injuries
(lord...help me)
We need competence at a minimum, but I would love to see the aforementioned playing under brilliance.

Oh god no.
Garrett likely isn't getting fired in Dallas. And why would he?

Probably not, but who knows. If he’s available I think he makes a ton of sense.
Reese probably loses his job, and his replacement is likely already on the staff in Kevin Abrams.
But there isn't a house cleaning coming. Unless you cut Manning.

4 year plan? More like let’s try to squeak out one more SB with Eli.
