BigBlue2112 : 11/7/2017 3:40 pm
One dead. No confirmation on identity. Just got his new plane, a 2018 Icon A5, a few weeks back in October.

Halladay was my favorite non Yankee player of that era, even though he played for a division rival. Unreal.

This link does not confirm that.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything in that link that said Halladay was the fatality. Maybe I missed it... ?
They changed the link since Nitro posted it
jcn56 : 11/7/2017 4:03 pm : link
Initially, it was the top Google search result and it said that Halladay was dead.
Ah shit ...
Beezer : 11/7/2017 4:04 pm : link
That sucks.

If true, RIP.

In a 10-year stretch from 2002 to 2011 Halladay was 170-75 (a .694 winning percentage).

2-time Cy Young winner
8-time all-star

Career 203-105 record (.659)

Roy Halladay threw 67 career complete games. At least eight every year from 2008-11. Will probably be the last player to ever get 50.

Only 40 years old. Terrible. One of the best pitchers I ever watched. Prime Doc was incredible.

RIP, Roy.
crazy coincidence
PaulBlakeTSU : 11/7/2017 4:36 pm : link
2003 Blue Jays leaders in innings pitched were Halladay and Lidle

JFC.

That's horrible. Thoughts & prayers to his family. WAYYYYYY too young.
Wow, very sad.

I believe his in-laws were in the same Parrothead club as my uncle. My uncle hung out with Roy once or twice, always said he was a very nice guy.
awful news
lightemup : 11/7/2017 4:41 pm : link
best pitcher of that era. Also the most overlooked. He was such a frustrating pitcher to watch against the yankees. Had such great movement on his pitches

RIP, you were great. First ballot HOF
Sad and shocking...
tony stg : 11/7/2017 4:41 pm : link
Roy's family used to live around the corner from me when I first moved to Florida. My oldest daughter used to babysit his boys before they moved. Talked to him many times... very nice guy. Prayers for Brandie and the boys.

Just numbing.
Always felt like he pitched great against the Yankees
Kyle in NY : 11/7/2017 4:42 pm : link
and sure enough, just looked up the numbers: 18-7 with a 2.98 ERA and 7 complete games in his career. Just a fantastic pitcher, and by all accounts, a really good guy. Sad day.
That's a shame.

But living around the area I've met him probably 10 times. Very nice guy. Definitely one of the nicest baseball players I've ever met. Rest in Peace Roy!
Sad day

Roy Halladay was a great, great pitcher and a good guy.
This reminds me of another tragic aircraft accident with Thurman Munson, one of my all time favorites. They both loved to fly.

Roy was the pitching coach of his son's HS team this past spring. They won the Florida state championship for their division and were ranked in the top 10 in the country by USA Today. (Calvary Christian HS in Clearwater FL).
That sucks.

news. A great player, and as others have said, much too young. RIP. God bless.
the really weird thing is....
BillKo : 11/8/2017 9:23 am : link
this company used his wife in a video as a promotion.

They apparently showed her saying she wanted no part of her husband flying, then they show her going up with him and him loving it, and she finally realized why he wanted to do this so badly (heard this on Mike Francessa).

Just a terrible story.

And also two developers from the company apparently died in a crash months earlier?
