Q: How important is it to get the defense going? And the notion of doing simple better.
A: It’s very important. I think they made a push towards it because last year was very simple. We pushed the issue about just playing and doing what we do best and knowing what we do and working at what we do best, you know, and that’s what we did last year. So, we’re getting back to that issue and we feel like we’re playing better and practicing better in that category.
Q: The word ‘quit’ has been used a lot this past week. Do you think this team quit?
A: No. No, I don’t see any quit on this team. Haven’t seen it. We’re all out there still practicing and nobody is giving up. Nobody is being disrespectful. Everybody is staying in tune and standing together.
Q: Ben McAdoo said he expects this team to go on a run. Do you think that’s possible?
A: Yeah. Of course. Get this win underneath our belt. Doing the simple things. Playing what we do best and get back to having fun. If we do that, yeah, we can definitely make that run.
Q: Is this locker room fractured?
A: What do you mean by fractured?
Q: Is it broken apart and is this a situation where people are going different ways and dividing?
A: No. Not at all. No. No splits. Nowhere that I can see.
Q: Is Ben McAdoo’s message still getting through to you guys?
A: Yeah. He makes a clear message. Makes it very strong messaging. We abide by it. We take it in and we take it to heart because we believe in everything that he says. We’re not turning our backs towards him.
Q: How much better do you have to play in this second half?
A: Ten times better. Ten times better. I think us playing simple is going to have that outcome.
Q: Ben McAdoo was talking about how important it is to have a team come together after the loss on Sunday and watch the film. What was that experience like for you guys as the secondary?
A: It was tough. It was tough. We haven’t had balls fly over our head like that. Teams just marched up and down the field and three, four plays now and again. We haven’t had that issue. To see that, it was very tough, but we fixed it, put it behind us and keep moving on.
Q: Do you think things will improve with CB Janoris Jenkins back on the field?
A: Of course. Of course. We got all our guys back. All our starters and we’re going to make a run now.
Q: Why has this defense gone backwards after being one of the best in the league last year?
A: My opinion – I think we just had a little bit too much. We just weren’t doing what we do best and that’s the biggest point I see.
