Trole or no Trole that is the question?
Is Mac still begging to keep his job?
Common man! Nuff with this teaser crap.
Either provide accurate info with facts to back it up or GO AWAY!
Worthwhile to keep for entertainment/distraction value?
I think Eric is really slade. He just assumes his alter-ego to stir crap up and get his point across anonymously. Sort of like the players do when they go to reporters.
Eric keeps Slade around just for the hits/traffic Â
Worthwhile to keep for entertainment/distraction value?
Worthwhile to keep around for entertainment/page view traffic. You might want to encourage him to post more often and do away with the hat-in-hand donation drive.
What sort of message are you sending to the community? Â
You know he's full of it and he makes things up, but you want to keep him around for entertainment? So you want to be a site known for entertainment(creating fake stories) rather than legitimate news?
If I'm someone that you count on for information(like Sy), I want no part of this website if thats how it's being run. I think you need to rethink how you do things.
I'm all for mocking him and calling him too. All is fair in my opinion.
My problem is people asking him to shut the fuck up and banning him. That's a shitty way to run a community. Dude posts one thread and everyone gets nutty about it. Ban him? Please. There are plenty of shitposts on this board that don't seem to phase the same people who get upset.
Dodge, he has done this numerous times and he has been wrong every single time. His false information hurts the credibility of any other person with inside information.
I've been on this board for quite some time. His false information hurts no one. You know what hurts people with information? People screaming at potential asshats because they dared to say something.
It was the most viewed thread of the week, or last few days. It's good fun and you can chose to believe it or not.
People getting upset about is hilarious. Either click and ignore or move on.
So, I assume you are an active reader of the national inquirer?
He sees current news stories and then breaks news that "could happen" and if he's right...see, I'm an insider. If he's wrong, it's fluid, constantly changing info. Slade didn't break the Brandon Marshall signing, he was just lucky to say it would be a 2 year deal and then everyone started slobbing his knob. Slade has no information and idiots like you keep him doing what he's doing, which is making up information to get a rise out of bbi. I'd rather we focused on real information...like why Odell is sabatoging the season from his couch!
I read the national inquirer when I'm on line at the grocery store and laugh at it. Then I pay for my groceries, go home and get on with my life.
I don't spend then next several hours yelling at store manager to get rid of the publication

If you don't like it, ignore him.
It has long been BBI policy that anyone intentionally spreading false info gets the ban hammer. Good posters like Chris in Philly didn't get a poll posted and we can use the old "ignore him" if you don't like what he posts too. Policy is policy, right? And Chris is a hell of a lot better poster than Slade. Yet he's gone.

I could care less about banning him, but if posts on April 1 are ban worthy for making shit up, doing it multiple times should have some sort of penalty.
Just in this month alone, he's had threads saying Mac was getting fired during the bye week. Then after the season on Jan 1 and then, yesterday.
Add in the other posts that never came true and it isn't just an isolated incident.
And dude - you made the Run Runaway song get out of my head!
I like black and white - dreaming of black and white. If you love black and white run run away!!
So what?
BBI doesn't penalize Doomster for posting the same shitty post every day about how he thinks the Giants should do X Y Z.
BBI doesn't penalize posters for starting threads on trading OBJ over and over.
BBI doesn't penalize posters for starting threads where the same topic is just 2 lines down.
BBI doesn't penalize posters for incoherent or poorly written Topic Starting posts, continuously for every thought that pops in their head.
April 1st bans for false info is a legit policy because it's a heavy rumor/news cycle. Second week of November in a 1-7 year? Who the fuck cares.
I read the national inquirer when I'm on line at the grocery store and laugh at it. Then I pay for my groceries, go home and get on with my life.
I don't spend then next several hours yelling at store manager to get rid of the publication
You also don't spend the several hours discussing with the store manager how the lettuce from last week wilted and let you down or how the red potato was a star, but the broccoli was mushy and the produce guy needs to get fired.

It seems like you don't know how to filter out shit posts and legit posts. Sy's contributions are always on the front page and stickied to the top of the forums. This is how you know what you should be reading in this community. Everything else is internet fodder.

You should take your own advice and ignore these people. The reason people "scream" at potential asshats is because of fake asshats like Slade.

It is very odd how you are so passionate about sticking up for Slade.
If you don't see the difference between repetitive threads about people posting their views on a football message board and a person who intentionally posts false information to get people riled up then there is no point in continuing this discussion.
I wouldn't ban the guy myself, but I wouldn't find myself making an impassioned plea to keep him around.
I doubt he ever had any inside info. He's made so many guesses and his first "calls" were things that were already expected publicly, so they weren't hard to predict and get right without inside info. Since then, a series of swings and misses.

If you don't see the difference between repetitive threads about people posting their views on a football message board and a person who intentionally posts false information to get people riled up then there is no point in continuing this discussion.
I ran a very large internet message board for a long while (some BBI readers have emailed me that they were members too) that dealt with real trolls and real shitposting. Most of this is really low-key trolling effort and not really harmful.
I'm "passionate" (I'd used the word interested) about proper community management and moderating and think banning people that slightly irritate you is bad for any community.
In my opinion, you should be banning people for being verbally abusive, threatening, stalking/doxxing, spamming and constant and overwhelming shitposting.
you babysit children by not allowing them talk politics.
Yet, allow a clearly unsubstantiated thread to remain in clear view on the forum thread listing page. Are we doing this simply to say that BBI "had it first" on the off-chance that Mcadoo IS indeed fired in the next few days?

As for Slade, at one point, he was nailing it with his "asshat" stuff... that's why we cut him slack for so long. We don't want to scare off legit asshats.
bbi isn't a sports website. It's a community of people that come to talk about sports AND life in general. If you want to be a sports website, maybe start by not allowing fake stories that you know are fake?
I think he’s full of crap& has been for awhile but no one is twisting your arm to click on his thread. There are a few posters that I never click on their threads because I know it’s a waste of time. I’m one that thinks that political posts should be allowed as well. I think the site is diminished without it especially when the Giants are not worth spending too much time on. Nothing to back this up but I think banning political reduces viewership because sometimes that’s all there is that’s interesting. No one makes you click on a thread,

Name another sports website that allows political discussion?
I'm not in the sports website business, so I don't know.
However, I do know THIS website is knowingly and voluntarily displaying information that Mcadoo is gone. That seems a lot more invasive and disruptive than people having a political discussion.
BTW, I'm not advocating for political discussion; I hate politics. Just pointing out the irony.
There's good news and bad news with political threads. You are right, there are a core of really good posters that like them and truly want to discourse.
Unfortunately, there are an equal number of posters who park themselves in an intractable place on political threads and polar opposites jump in and it takes it back and forth spinning out of control and turning into a nasty name-calling brawl. This derails these threads and spills over into the rest of the threads on the board.
In my opinion, you should be banning people for being verbally abusive, threatening, stalking/doxxing, spamming and constant and overwhelming shitposting.
I agree but I also agree people should follow the rules of the board. If not then they should be banned regardless of whether or not you agree with the rules.
He's delusional, but no more so than a lot of BBI posters.
Slade has posted about 15 vague "asshat" threads over the last year or two - almost none of which have been correct.
It's just trolling at this point. The criticism is warranted and deserved. He's making things up - he has no legit info. It's clear as day.
Worthwhile to keep for entertainment/distraction value?
I was wondering your thoughts on this one. Definitely ban worthy.

No, doesn't have to back it up. Just be right.

I think you already know the answer - but I understand why you'd want to keep him around.
The thread view number on this one speaks for itself.
Slade is cvic... and he was dead on a few years ago.
But he's been a dud for several years now.
If we run a poll and folks want him gone, he's gone.
