“It was Bill Parcells’ and Bill Belichick’s philosophy against Bill Walsh’s philosophy,” he said. “We were just different in how we played and it was just an epic matchup. The Giants were very very physical and played in a caliber that was outstanding to watch. With our type of offense against that type of defense, our type of defense against that type of offense, they were epic battles.”
but even the Monday Night loss to SF in 1990, was a great game to watch. One hell of a battle. I would have liked to see them let Simms & Lott go at it.
sigh, Anderson trucking Lott, the fake punt and a play that only the helmet catch has managed to exceed as my all time favourite - Marshall hustling after slipping twice to absolutely destroy Joe Montana - just crushed him like a pop can
and the RUmble in the Jungle all rolled into one. Great games. 2 polar opposite philosophies. Great coaches and staffs, great players. Watch that and it becomes more difficult towatch the shit on field product we see today.
That was a great era to be a football fan.
The 1990 NFC Championship Game is still the best football game I've ever witnessed - I cherish the DVD copy and watch it every off season.
