Wow.

Rogue One was amazing but still had to do a lot to make sure it lined up with A New Hope. A complete fresh story in this same universe could be very fucking cool!

Netflix realized that exclusive TV content was the best way to capture monthly subscribers, which is the best way to generate revenue as an entertainment provider. Heck, it's really (imo) always been the best way to generate revenues.

Using the Star Wars property to create an instant base who would very likely subscribe is genius, but only if the content is good enough to get high reviews. Lots of pressure on Disney to get this right.

As for me, I won't be subscribing anytime soon. Too many monthly subscriptions as it is - got to start cutting some of them off.

I do think this is a very good sign for episode 8 that Johnson is involved with this new trilogy. Disney must be very pleased with the final cut of The Last Jedi.

i worry they are over doing it with star wars, but its supposed to be a whole galaxy so as long as you dont do the same characters over and over this should work.

Disney is def trying to compete with Netflix. Its why they are trying to acquire all of the Fox properties. As a marvel fan im really hoping this happens.

their kids shows on Netflix is a huge selling point and I couldn't see them giving up that money for much longer. Their entire kids library plus everything Star Wars is reason enough to fork over $10 per month.

but that should be a long way off. So many possible storylines to create with the universe and mythology...fingers crossed they pick the right writers and directors.

I agree the freedom to break from the original stories should be a blessing...no longer obsessed with planting tons of easter eggs and matching up storylines

for this to be over after episode 9. It's never going to end, similar to the Avengers universe. Not sure how I feel about that.

This repackaging of old plot devices in the current trilogy has left a lot to be desired. You'd have to think that through sheer odds, someone's father/brother/sister/mother doesn't turn to the dark side and decides to be an accountant inside.

when I was 12 but it is very impressive how they have turned on the money machine. When Lucas first sold I thought he snookered them out of a billion dollars but they have made that back already and then some. One of the reasons they probably bought it was that they had long range plans for the streaming service. CEO's earning their money.

this would happen sooner or Later .Marvel has done a great job creating a new character in the Star Wars comics called Doctor Aphra .I really hope she can get a live action show because she is bad ass .
