That "miss" but it sure seems like there have been at least as many can't-miss OL (including a number of top 5 picks) that haven't panned out lately.
OL and QB are the hardest positions to theoretically predict to the next level. Your much better hoarding as many OL or paying for proven commodities in the NFL.

That may be true these days with so many colleges using the spread offense which stunts the NFL development of top QBs and OL...but back in the day OTs had one of the lowest bust rates, because if they failed at OT, they might still be able to play G.
Greg Robinson made Ereck Flowers look like Anthony Munoz.
The Giants saw Robinson in Week-2. His footwork and balance are absolutely terrible. As a result, he's constantly reaching and grabbing. In that game he also had one false start and two holding penalties.
Robinson was on the Lions roster primarily because Taylor Decker was injured in the spring during OTA's. Now that Decker's off PUP and is practicing, Robinson's gone.
Robinson was just another in an endless line of failed draft picks. Nothing unusual there. It happens to every team, every year. Most draft picks will do little or nothing in pro football. No one knows it better than the team that drafted Robinson, the Rams. They took another left tackle, Jason Smith, with the second overall pick in 2009. He was worse than Robinson.
Success or failure in the NFL draft is largely random.

That 2009 draft was brutal. It was Stafford first, followed by multiple busts. Glad the Giants took Nicks at the end of first.

One of the reasons I have supported Reese. So many opportunities to completely blow first rounders and he always finds a good player. Injuries are another thing though.
RE: Trying to build the ALL-TIME First Round Bust.....
He was a mid-first round pick and currently carries an 8.8M cap hit. He should be expected to not only perform at a high level but also make the players around him better. In his 5 years, he should have earned some recognition.
Let's list his accomplishments -
- Can not be counted on to play week to week for the past 4 years. He has proven capable of missing multiple games in a row.
- He is considered our best OL from a team that has one of the worst offensive lines.
- All-Pro? Nope.
- Pro-Bowl? Nope.
- Alternate to a Pro-Bowler? Nope.
- An Alternate to an Alternate to a Pro-Bowler? Nope.

I think Reese has been bad hte last few years with his first round picks, but for a mid first round pick? Pugh is decent. He can play 4 positions on the line at a reasonably good level. He's injury prone but that's the only real knock on him.

Certainly, a jack-of-all trades journeyman can be found in the second or third round. For a mid-first round pick, it is not unreasonable to expect in their 5 year tenure to achieve some sort of recognition. Being the best of the worst OL is hardly a feather in his cap. Also, journeyman OL are not paid $8.8M/yr.

Diver I agree, not necessarily an All-Pro, but by no means a bust. If you think he is that terrible, watch how much he gets in the open market next year. Bottoms line, the line is better with him in the lineup
Justin Pugh was first team All Pro left guard,on the ESPN mid season NFL All-Pro team.
Are we handing out awards at half-way points? Was the judging before he missed last week? Your response is close to the sharpshooter fallacy where you cherrypick a limited dataset to prop up your argument. But by all means, I'll gladly recognize his accomplishments if he ever achieves them at the end of the season. I won't hold my breath.
Championship!
