"Extreme Ownership".....

thrunthrublue : 11/10/2017 9:37 pm
navy seals jocko willink and leif babin wrote this fantastic book, in chapter 2, they describe a team competition between seals rowing boats in a race. the directions and parameters of the race were both mind and body taxing. one team leader consistently won each race, and one leader, using harsh remarks, yelling, throwing his team members under the bus....came in last. the senior officer decided to have the two team leaders switch places....and, the last place team went through a miraculous turnaround. that last place performing team won, and the former lead team came in second. the seals determined the team was under performing because the leader was under performing. when a officer poorly performed and was not held accountable (attn: giants ownership) the substandard performance now becomes the new standard. in the end....its up to the CEO to choose between keeping the team alive or let the erring officer go.....giants, in 2018.

He's making the point that one of Reese, McAdoo or Eli needs to go. But not sure which one.

Of course he says the navy seal that was let go was mean and constantly threw his crew members under a bus -- none of the three above do that.

But otherwise - great point?
