Excellent win in Portland last night without 3 bigs (Booker, Zeller, Allen). Terrific D vs. Lillard and McCollum. Rondae becoming a very solid 2-way player. Even a loss in Utah tonight would make them 2-3 on this western trip which is about as good as one can expect from this team. Now 5-7 for the year which puts them on pace for around 35 wins, 15 more than last year. I’d certainly take that, especially without one of their best players (Lin).
good management, i'd say

Marks/Atkinson combo are getting it done. Nets make lots of errors but play hard and unselfish basketball. Addition of one super-star would make a big difference -- and they've turned themselves into an attractive spot for a free agent.
As guys get more comfortable

They will keep improving.
Crabbe and dlo in particular.
Very good road win
D’Angelo and RHJ

were sensational at the end of the game. Good, unexpected road win. Hopefully they can build on it but tonight will be another tough challenge.
Really solid win - this year is all about developing long term pieces

most importantly Russell, who is already a very solid scoring PG. He isn't afraid to take shots at the end of the game and has closed out 2 or 3 wins this year in impressive fashion. Also showing improvement defensively. Just needs to add consistency. The only upside to Lin's injury was the opportunity to put Russell front and center.

Dinwiddie looks like an excellent backup PG, Crabbe's a solid 3 & D guy, and RHJ is turning into Gerald Wallace 2.0. Levert and Allen have showed flashes, would be great to see 1 of them find some consistency as the season goes along.

Really impressive job by Marks acquiring all of those guys (except RHJ) over the last 15 months with minimal assets. Exciting to think about what he'll be able to do with the picks and salary cap room over the next couple years.

+1
The D'Angelo trade looks like a really good move for the Nets.

There are definitely some consistency issues, but I have to keep reminding myself that he is still just 21 years old. Assuming he is here long term, he should be coming into his prime right as the Nets are ready for their roster to contend on a higher level.

The development of Dinwiddie is just another example of Atkinson being the point guard whisperer.

Hollis-Jefferson has been such a pleasant surprise this year. He seems more comfortable with the ball in his hands and less erratic with his shots and turnovers. Starting to think he may be a bigger piece of the future than I originally believed.

Getting DeMarre Carroll, a first rounder, and a second rounder in exchange for Justin Hamilton? That is what you call a steal. He is on pace for maybe the best offensive season of his career and is a terrific veteran influence for this team.
I really hope Russell

Makes the lakers look like idiots. He looks pretty good overall and still room to grow. If he improves... lakers misery. Sign me up.

I'm not even a big Russell fan but I think that trade was terrible for the Lakers. I really don't understand the Lakers hype. What good players do they have? Lebron's going there to play with Ball and Kuczma?
what Dlo did down the stretch

was pretty special on the road.
tough jumper and the and 1 to ice it-- all under control. awesome game and he is really buying into the coaching staff and constructive criticism.
Russell is a really interesting player, hard to think of comparisons

in some ways he reminds me of a smaller Pierce being able to create his own shot at will despite not being the most athletic player. Also similarly relies on those crafty mid-range pull ups and floaters. He makes a ton of high difficulty passes and seems to never worry about getting his jumpshot blocked. Just needs to not force things as much and make the simple plays with more consistency - especially in games where his shot isn't going down. Really impressive talent though. Other than Kuzma that trade was a heist.

I'm rooting for D-Lo, since it would be SO sweet for him to end up a better player then Ball, but there is no way the Nets are an attractive spot for any FA with options right now. Not even close.
Another local team that’s got to learn
Simms11 : 11/11/2017 9:04 pm : link
to play better Defense. If they had even an average defense, they’d probably have 3 or 4 more wins?! They can score with just about anybody, but defense is another whole story.
