GBN 2018 Draft Projection...

M.S. : 11/12/2017 7:02 am
...takes care of our number one issue as the Giants finds themselves in the unenviable position of looking up at divisional rivals with young stud QBs for the next decade:

With the third pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Josh Rosen, quarterback, UCLA.

This needs to happen. Badly. And this needs to happen with a new General Manager in place.

A new era begins for the New York Giants.

2018 First-round projection - ( New Window )

You're fucking with me. That isn't a real name.
The noise around Rosen concerns me
Sean : 11/12/2017 7:23 am : link
I’d prefer Darnold.
7 QBs in top 17picks, wow!
George from PA : 11/12/2017 7:28 am : link
that would blow out any past QB draft.

Watch out for that monster DE out of NC State...
M.S. : 11/12/2017 7:31 am : link

...Bradley Chubb!!!

He is a man among boys, and carries his 275 pounds like a trim wide receiver.

This guy is big, fast, agile, balanced, and everything else.

This dude is the total package. He looks the part and he plays the part.

A total f-ing destroyer.
Our QB choice
Sammo85 : 11/12/2017 7:33 am : link
Depends on a lot of factors. Where and how we finish. Whether we get a new GM and HC (what kind of system?).

My rankings for QB
Big Rick in FL : 11/12/2017 7:46 am : link
In order would be Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, Lamar Jackson.

My list of all prospects in order would be Rosen, Darnold, Barkley, Chubb, Mayfield, Nelson, Fitzpatrick.

Need to lose today!! Although I'm not worried about the 49ers drafting a QB ahead of us. I'm worried about other teams jumping ahead of us. We lose today and we own the 2nd pick in the draft. Hopefully we can get a QB without trading up.
No thanks
Mike in NY : 11/12/2017 7:46 am : link
Give me an elite Defensive player or trade down. When I watch Rosen play there is nothing that screams to me successful NFL QB. The two being talked about in First Round that interest me are Josh Allen of Wyoming (his team this year is probably one of the worst in terms of talent on offense surrounding him so I am not reading too much into numbers) and Ryan Finley of North Carolina State. Wild Card is Baker Mayfield, but I would need to see him on the whiteboard if he can recognize schemes, reads, etc. under Center and with multiple options.
If you think Josh Allen
Big Rick in FL : 11/12/2017 7:58 am : link
Is anywhere near Josh Rosen you should probably reevaluate the way you assess players. His mechanics are great for a 20 year old. He's got plenty of arm strength. Very good vision and pocket presence.
Here's a quote from a guy

Who gets paid to scout draft prospects. Our very own Sy'56.

The one that I think can be a legit star, however, is Josh Rosen/UCLA. He has the combination of repeatable throwing mechanics, arm power, accuracy, and feel in the pocket. He has had less help around him than all the other guys by far...none of the draft eligible QBs have had more drops by their targets than Rosen this year

Having had less help around him, he should be prepared to join the Giants.
May prefer Darnold as well,

but Rosen would be great as well. I'd take either in a heartbeat.

It is his real name. He is the top WR on Notre Dame and If they had a qb who could actually throw the ball then he would have better numbers.

His brothers name is Amon Ra St Brown
Picking that high

We can't afford to screw it up. Someone besides Reese is making that pick.

Sy isn’t infallible. Last year he had Kizer as #2 QB and I don’t recall him being high on Watson, Mahomes, and Webb, all of whom have demonstrated more than Kizer. When I have seen Rosen I like the arm strength and he can evade a pass rush, but decisionmaking can get away from him. Also, not sure how much of a team leader he is. Jeff George had a great arm, but was such a dick of a person that his OL was purposely letting him get hit hard.
Overloaded on QBs with warts already showing.
Ivan15 : 11/12/2017 9:47 am : link
I know there are teams desperate for QBs but anyone drafting a rookie to start will end up taking a step back in team progress.

Post season warts will result in only 3 or 4 being 1st round picks.
Not sure
McNally's_Nuts : 11/12/2017 9:57 am : link
how Webb or Mahomes have showed more than Kiser. Neither of those guys have taken a meaningful snap in a game.

I couldn’t name one skill position player on the Browns to be honest with you.
Hard to get excited about a new QB

When our front office hasn't been able to build a team around our two time Super Bowl MVP since 2011. Until that's fixed we're just grasping at straws.
Darnold
Marty866b : 11/12/2017 12:25 pm : link
Have any of you here watched him lately? He's made some throws they very few, including the NFL qb's,can make. He's had alot of turnovers earlier in the year but lately has cleaned that up. He's big, strong, athletic, and will be able to handle the NY media. Also,he loves football and is extremely coachable. I wouldn't mind Rosen but I prefer Darnold. Some of the other guys could be system quarterbacks. Not interested in them in the top of the 1st round. We have to pick a quarterback for the future IF the organization likes the quarterback available to them,

I’m with you. I think Darnold is going to be a great pro. I suspect everyone forgets the rough season he’s having once the combine is over.
Darnold Is not good.

Wonder if he will make it as a backup. Go watch the ND game.

It's ridiculously short sighted to look at a game or two and come away with the idea that a player "is not good". Norte Dames OL got abused last night. Are McGlinchey and Nelson now "not good"?

Yeah, right now if they don't take a QB, I could. See them taking Chubb. And then releasing Vernon.

I can argue tha Nelson had a great game last night. He stoned so many pass rushers and was a beast in the run game.

Chubb from NC State would be a great alternate pick.

guess is that the whole Rosen debate is moot because somebody will likely take him before the Giants, especially if Darnold says in school. That basically leaves Josh Allen as the only QB in play for the Giants.

Rosen is more pro ready, but Allen has a stronger arm, and is a real threat to run. He has no run game, and is running for his life most plays.

The Giants of course might just stay with Webb.

We'll be having this debate until the draft.
Allen hurt last night
jeff57 : 11/12/2017 2:53 pm : link
Some sort of arm injury apparently

Marty866b : 11/12/2017 3:55 pm : link
The entire NFL disagrees with you on Darnold. He's going top 5,at worst if he comes out. Eli Manning has had MANY worse games then Darnold had at Notre Dame. Your evaluation of Darnold playing poorly in one game is ridiculous.

Want real names? Check out the name of the year ,published yearly.

http://www.nameoftheyear.com/

You can't make this up. From my NICU work, 38 of 50 newborn babes had unintelligible names to most of us.

Flynn's first rule of nomenclature:

"The more unusual the first name would have been in 1976,the more likely they *or their parents) are to have serious pathology "
