SANTA CLARA, Calif. — If you dare (or care), imagine this scenario, Giants fans: The 49ers defeating the Giants on Sunday. Do you recall the emotions you felt after Rams 51, Giants 17, last week at MetLife Stadium? Do you recall how angered you became at Giants coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese after watching the Giants play like they didn’t care? How might you feel if the Giants lose to an 0-9 49ers team playing with a first-year quarterback (C.J. Beathard) no one’s ever heard of at what will be an apathetic, half-empty Levi’s Stadium? Sure, the 1-7 Giants have had their share of bad luck with injuries this season, losing Odell Beckham Jr. and most of the rest of their receiving corps. But the 49ers have league-high 23 players on injured reserve and are such a mess that they’re afraid to play newly-acquired franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for fear he’ll get hurt playing with so little trustworthy talent around him. |
You love throwing in extra letters into his name. Haha.
I agree. Keep the losses coming. Why would anybody be pissed if we lost to the Niners at this stage of the season with where we are?
Whether or not people think we are going to draft a QB it is better to not have to give up more assets to move up in the draft if we covet a player. Or it gives us a chance to have a pick that other teams want and opens up the possibility to trade down if possible. Any way you slice it it is better to be picking earlier than later.
And this is not just the first round. This is all rounds. So, not only would we not have to trade away additional picks but we would also have better picks in the additional rounds too. Please lose. A win against the Niners only hurts the future of this team.
Meaningful games are over for this seasoon, higher draft pick is one of the advantages of this type of season.
I will always root for the Giants to win every game, but I recognize that it would help their draft position to lose, so I wouldn't have a negative reaction if the Giants did lose today.
I have never cared less about a game then this afternoon ...
Let's pray Reese and the rest of the crappy FO are not the ones making decisions though
+1.
A "FUN" Fact:
Thanks to our crack( on crack) FO...if Eli starts the rest of the season and the Giants lose all the games including today........
Eli's regular season W-L record will be 109-106.
I think HOF is out of the question.
TY JR.
KC next week....Skins 4 days later( if KC doesn't destroy our players first).
Maybe they go on run.
GODAWGS!!
Exactly!
Giants losing to the 49ers doesn't make this season worse.
This season is already horrendous. This team was supposed to make the playoffs and compete for a Super Bowl. Instead, they're on track for a top 5, top 3 pick.
Play the kids, get them on the field. Maybe bring in Webb for the second half.
being 1-7 is manageable and in good shape..but 1-8? would be abysmal and waaaaay worse!
I will always root for the Giants to win every game, but I recognize that it would help their draft position to lose, so I wouldn't have a negative reaction if the Giants did lose today.
Well stated. That's exactly how I feel. During the game I root for them to win but rationally I know a loss is actually better for the longterm success of the team
