he says the players need to be self motivated. The way he answered the question indicated that it is not his job to motivate them. Very interesting... I am really trying to figure out what he does.
As usual, he said in response to another question that he will have to look at the tape. Do any of these reporters follow up with the same question a few days later after he has had a chance to review the game film?

You know, I was just going to post the same thing. My recollection is exactly the same. Handley did say something to that effect.
All they have to say is, “I understand you need to look at the tape but tell me what you saw on the field.” Or what are you actually doing or looking at if you have to look at the damn tape to have an adequate response to anything that happened during the game.
This year, his new defensive coordinator, Rod Rust, installed a read-and-react defense that antagonized veteran defensive players who enjoyed so much success in the past with an aggressive system. Players complained that there was no communication with coaches. And there were many more problems.
