NFT: Metro North to Metlife

I have always done the following:

1- Penn Station to Seacaucus
2- Taxi from Seacaucus to MetLife ($15-20); get the cab drivers number and ask if they are working in the evening.
3- Post Game - reverse above.

Reasons I have for doing this - the rail to Metlife at earliest gets there 2 hrs before kickoff. If you are meeting up with a group to tailgate the 2 hrs flies by and you dont get to experience the tailgate. Post game- the lines for the train blow (might be different given attendance or lack thereof for this week) and they run for 45 minutes-1hr after game completes which doesnt allow you to go back to tailgating or hanging out after. If you merely just want to go to the game and back home right after then ignore all of the above and take the train

does the train start as soon as the game is over, or will it start one hour before the game ends?

Metro North says there's a train that goes directly to Seacaucus, so you don't have to get off at Grand Central and then get to Penn Station. No idea of the details, but that would probably save you a lot of hassle.

Are you sure about that? My understanding is that all the trains east of the Hudson go to grand central, which means you have to get over to Penn Station (cab, subway, walk) just to get another train to NJ.

From P.A. Is quick (20!min) and cheap. Drops you right at the stadium.

How? Trains=no traffic.

Easiest route is the bus from the Port Authority, just walk or shuttle from Grand Central to PA.

are slow and run a roundabout route, on NJ time. It's slow.

The bus from PA dumps directly into the Lincoln tunnel and you're in the stadium lot within 15 minutes consistently.
