Snacks takes shot at media via twitter

ryanmkeane : 11/14/2017 11:40 am
A guy on twitter asked Snacks what was going on with the team and he responded with:

Just some really really really bad breaks. Media comes in locker room 30 minutes and formulates an opinion off 3-4 convos. Click bait

Then Jordan replied with:

I'm open to talk more anytime. Feel free to find me or call me and we can make sure the opinions are more informed.

Could this get any worse?
Snacks is right, he challenged the media last week
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 11/14/2017 11:44 am : link
go read the transcript Eric posted. After the media asked the same question 4-5 different ways, finally Snacks explained to them that that is not how a locker room works.

If you listen to McAdoo's conference call, there are a couple of guys who are asking inciteful questions rather than insightful questions.
Media forms an opinion based off 3 or 4 convos?.

How about watching the games? Maybe just maybe that goes into forming an opinion?

Ugh, it’s the media again...
trueblueinpw : 11/14/2017 11:57 am : link
Is blaming the media the last refuge of the scoundrel? I mean, sure, you don’t want to read about being the worst team in the NFL only 9 games after you were a Super Bowl favorite. And you don’t want to answer questions about your teammates giving up. But the Giants failures are not the media’s fault. And Snacks should know the way the game works at this point; want some love in the press then go make some plays and win some games.

Should spend more time worrying about the coward that keeps giving anonymous statements into the supposed goings on in the locker room. And the puss poor effort this team has shown. The media isn't out there running away from tackling and producing the worst defense in all of football.
Really Jordan?

Like Harrison gives a shit-snack about chasing you around to make sure you've got the best scoop.

about "fake news" in any forum: if a reporter is caught making stuff up aka lying, they get fired. People dont risk their reputations for a scoop.

He's doing his job. If its not rah rah giants all the time, that's kinda what I want. If he's making something up, well that is different. He was pretty right on about Odell's ankle, and got a lot of crap for that.

New York Giants or any NY sports team and you do not understand that this is how the NY media works then you are out to lunch.

When things go bad, this is what happens. People are not looking for stories, they are looking to stir things up and get it in the paper or on the web or on TV. That is the reality of when seasons go tits up like this one.

Crying about it makes no sense and, certainly, when you put on tape the lack of effort as we have seen the last two weeks then it becomes a feeding frenzy. I love Snacks and so on but c'mon Man...this is a surprise to you! How long has he been in New York?
I'll say this about the media
Sy'56 : 11/14/2017 1:20 pm : link
with ultra respect that what they do is much more difficult than most believe...

That said....there are a few that do not know the game at all. They are writers more than they are football guys. Being there, listening to some ask questions when they had their limited access to players during training camp...I was embarrassed to be next to them. It was absurd. I understand they need "stories" and "clicks"....but man it was rough to be around.

I won't say who...but one of the beat writers told someone next to him, with assurance, that the NFL practice squads had 20 players on it. And that press coverage was when a CB lined up 5+ yards off the ball. Very basic knowledge things like that....to have someone write about (and criticize) players without actual game knowledge would madden me to no end if I were a player. I can 100% understand why most of them don't like being in the same room as them.
A couple of things people have to understand about media
Daniel in MI : 11/14/2017 1:43 pm : link
1) They often ask questions they know the answer to or they have an opinion on based on the game. But, they want a quote for the article from someone on the team, so they ask the coach, player, owner, media rep.

2) Their job is to sell papers/get clicks by writing about sports. So, yes, they're looking for an angle, they're looking for a controversial take, they are looking to get a juicy quote. No one reads "Players Doing the Best They Can" they read "Players Quitting on Coach." You can say that's the media's fault for looking for hot takes, but that's supply and demand.

Well, clearly he does. You can't argue with Jordan's response. He is (with all media) being called out. So, he offers a chance to get more info..

whatever gets him through a possible 1-15 is his money and his life. It's alright. When healthy he's part of the solution. On the list of 99 Giants problems the media ain't one.

I get so tired about bitching about the media
mikeinbloomfield : 11/14/2017 4:42 pm : link
The team is 1-8. Bad breaks happen, and certainly Snacks is closer to it than anyone, but I can't believe the team is 1-8 because of bad luck.

And yes, journalists have to sell papers and "players revolting against the coach stories" will get read. But does anyone believe those quotes are entirely made up?

In any case, bitching about stories in the media do exactly nothing about winning games on Sunday. The fans are frustrated, I for one certainly don't need a newspaper to tell me what to think about this team. I cannot wait for this stupid season to be over.
I don't think there's many secrets left with the Giants

I used to be connected with Sport Magazine(anyone remember that publication?)in the late 70's and early 80's and got to meet many football sportswriters. I was shocked to find out how little that they knew about the game after speaking with them. They are mostly made up of reporters who just decided to do sports without any real knowledge of the game that they covered. I am sure there are exceptions to this but when a writer gives his opinion, don't think that it is an expert's one.

Are we sure that there are players giving anonymous statements? Slow couple of days for a reporter. Time for an anonymous statement. Gets views and the best part is that you dont have to prove that anyone actually said it.

Yeah yeah. I'll never click on one your articles pal. I played college ball for a major program and had a cup of coffee in camp. I have many former teammates and alums who experienced professional ball far further than I. Agency guys attended my wedding and represent my brother to this day. It's more than enough to snuff out absurdity from media members. We don't like you.

B, you should have heard Jordan's spot on the Kay show. He actually brought up Snack's tweet. I was in really hoping he mentioned the toilet bug comment in reference to his journalism skills. Unfortunately, he didn't.
