NFT: What do you think of this as a Yankee trade for Stanton?

Spirit of '86 : 11/14/2017 5:52 pm
Yanks get Stanton
Marlins get Ellsbury (full contract), Montgomery, Green and Frazier.

Yanks clear off Ells $ and get 40 man space. Marlins get three good cheap players and OF replacement for Stanton and save $232 million.

Yanks get corner outfield for the ages.
Not enough for the MArlins

Why would they even take Ellsbury?
I think that's a no brainer for the Yankees
illmatic : 11/14/2017 5:57 pm : link
that would be a total steal. You don't know if Frazier will blossom into something special. Stanton is special. And you kind of offset Stanton's contract, at least partially, with Ellsbury's. I can't see the Marlins wanting Ellsbury anyway so he would probably block that. They would want more young talent instead.
The Yankees wouldn't claim Stanton off waivers

for free right now. They're not going to take that contract and they're going to get under the luxury tax. As for the Jeter's there is ZERO chance they're taking back 68 million in salary when they trade Stanton.
Probably not good for the Marlins

They would want more talented youth, and won't want Ells contract. To get rid of Ells, the Yanks are going to have to eat a big chunk of his contract.
Stanton is 28
GentleGiant : 11/14/2017 6:04 pm : link
When Jacoby Ellsbury was 28 he batted .321 slugged 32 hr with 105 rbi and 39 sb. He never again came close to those numbers.
Plus Hal has given Cash a directive

to get under the salary cap. Taking on Stanton contract would make that very difficult; not to mention Stanton has another A-rod like contract (looks good while they are young and still producing at a high level, but becomes a boat anchor as the player ages and becomes closer to average or less).

we are finally getting away from the overreliance on the hr teams. be dynamic. speed, line drives, power, handle the bat, do it all.
aren't the Marlins only considering moving Stanton
RasputinPrime : 11/14/2017 6:54 pm : link
to save money? No way they move him if they don't get something back AND save the money. He's too good and too popular to move otherwise.

I'm not sure hecwas saying that the Yankees are interested. I read that article the other day and I think it was Sherman inventing trades in his own head that he thinks would make sense for some teams
That trade is hilarious

Here's the article. It's Sherman's concocted ideas.
