Sterling Shepard - Silver Lining

adamg : 11/14/2017 6:08 pm
Just saw a PFF grade of Shepard's for this past week (93.2 - the highest for any receiver) and thinking about how he stepped up the past couple of games now that he's the primary receiver (outside of Engram obv.). And, one of the positives seems to be that he's taking a huge step forward with Beckham out. Same with Engram. By the time we get OBJ back next year, I expect he'll be rejoining two guys who have much more experience and versatility than they otherwise would with OBJ in the line up everyday.

Just a thought about a lost season at least...

Re-watched the game yesterday and thought the same thing. I think they'll need to obviously fix the Oline, but also add a WR2 to that unit and I think the expectations should be high again. Of course paper champs mean absolutely nothing, but I think that could be a good unit.
Sterling Silver

And Engram are a nice nucleus receiving core. All we need is someone to sling them the ball consistently and blockers to give them enough time to run their routes
This is why I love the idea of Darnold or Rosen, even Mayfield
Breeze_94 : 11/14/2017 9:51 pm : link
Giants have a good young receiving core of OBJ, Shep, and Engram. It would be nice to allow a young QB to grow with them.

Hopefully the Giants can address the OL, LB, and CB in rounds 2-7 and FA.
I'd rather draft Barkley
GeorgeAdams33 : 11/14/2017 10:15 pm : link
RB-Saquon Barkley out of Penn. St. will probably be a top 3 pick. The guy is big, quick, and fast. 6-1 230 with great instincts and vision. Eli has a few years left. Fix the line and provide him a running game along with a solid defense and we might win another trophy.
sorry, he is 5-11 233
GeorgeAdams33 : 11/14/2017 10:16 pm : link
even better

This ...please ^^^^
Barkley is good enough

To make this a 1 year nightmare and back to playoff contention

Reminds me of David Johnson (AZ back).

Barkley - Odell - Shep - Engram ... wow
The Giants would be and look like fools if they draft a RB
NikkiMac : 11/15/2017 4:57 am : link
With one of the top 3 picks and an aging 37 year old QB and a shit Oline and you think Barkley is going to make a difference they just need a power back they can find one of those guys in the later rounds imo
it's easier to win
fkap : 11/15/2017 8:07 am : link
with an ok RB than with an ok QB, and it's easier to find a good RB than to find a good QB. It's time to draft our next QB, and we should be in a position to draft one. The only caveat is whether any of the QBs available are worth the pick.
The Giants like Webb
GeorgeAdams33 : 11/15/2017 9:11 am : link
....and Eli has a few years left. He was amazing in the wild card game against the Packers. Give him a running game and some time in the pocket and we might win another ring. You guys want to scrap a championship and build for the future? Not me..... No thanks.
I'm confused
MetsAreBack : 11/15/2017 9:28 am : link
I was told on another thread Eli's only weapon in this offense is Engram.

25 QBs in this league would kill for a trio of OBJ-Shepard-Engram. Two firsts and a high second.
Giants will draft Darnold or Rosen if they can
Vanzetti : 11/15/2017 2:47 pm : link
But they have to have one of the top two picks and they are sitting third right now.

Would 49ers be open to a trade? If not and Giants do pick third, they will take Barkeley.

So, I think, really, draft position will make the decision for them.

if the giants pick third, they wont get barkley. the 49ers will take him second....

we need to either have the second pick or the 49ers trade out of it to a team that wants to take rosen or darnold at #2. then it goes

browns-darnold
team that trades up-rosen
giants-barkley

i would be VERY happy with barkley, he is going to be very good. fix the OL in FA, give webb another year at least to learn. and then after next season webb takes over....or if eli can still produce in 2 years webb takes over....imo we dont NEED to draft a QB in april...id be happy with barkley
