Duggan: Players don't like Friday/Saturday Schedule

No. Giants have a walk-through on Friday and an 80 percent practice on Saturday. Most teams do the opposite. It was one of the gripes from the anonymous players
They should clam up
HomerJones45 : 11/17/2017 12:18 pm : link
it's a great plan; it is working spectacularly well and they should be excited to be part of it.
It worked

Exactly what Chip Kelly did

It's an Olympic-style of training.

But they were good last year and the players didn't need excuses for their ineptitude and lack of effort then.
I am sorry...but at 1-8 and soon to be 1-15...
GiantBlue : 11/17/2017 12:22 pm : link
the players should just suck it up and shut it up!
But as long as it is a great practice

Hard sell for an undermanned team
JonC : 11/17/2017 12:24 pm : link
that seems to not respect its coaches, to boot.

through college, into the pros, then suddenly everything that you're used to in terms of a walkthrough/practice schedule is flipped upside down. Just doesn't make sense, especially for an NFL team.

And someone mentioned Chip Kelly - how'd that work out for him? Gtfoh.

Are they in uppers going thud or are they in full pads on Saturdays?

Well high schools and Colleges play on Friday and Saturdays - and the pros play on Sundays. The players seem to be able to adapt to that so I'd think they should be able to handle Friday walk-thru, Saturday practice.

this was what the players did under Coughlin as well. Is that true?

Apples to oranges. If HS/Colleges all have a walk thru the day before the game, then they are basically training their bodies in this fashion:

1. Practice 2 days prior -> walk thru (and recover) -> game day

vs practicing the day before a game and not having a day to recover, even if the practice is "only" at 80%.
They Barely Practice As It Is
Bernie : 11/17/2017 12:46 pm : link
and you want me to feel bad for them because they have to practice at 80% on Saturday? Spare me.

You're missing my point completely.
This reads like he has no new info...

Can anyone verify that there is actually new comments about this being made?

I don't know why it was presented here like it was new info because that's not how I presented it in my tweet. I clearly referenced it as being one of the gripes from the anonymous players.
I'm not thrilled with my

one constant you can count on, the players never think it is their fault.

Thanks Dan - you were clear enough for me.
Too bad

some of these guys don't go 80% on Sundays.
you gotta wonder

Walk Through-->Practice-->Game day

seems odd to me.
Well,
TC : 11/17/2017 6:45 pm : link
now if Baghdad Ben could only figure out a way to make them go 80% on SUNDAY, he might have accomplished something!

Exactly.

And you can see them noticeably run out of gas midway thru the 3rd quarters.

job to professional sports is silly.

Are you risking your health and future typing up your TPS reports during your horrific 8-5 job?

but they win in practice!!
micky : 11/17/2017 9:06 pm : link
agree..seriously, that a routine done all your career (norm) that is changed and basically going 2 days in a row (padded practice 80% on Saturday and gameday) can have an impact on players
Seems like McAdoo

Maybe going hard on Saturday worked last year
eclipz928 : 11/18/2017 9:16 am : link
but something different is needed this year. The anonymous players didn't seem to take issue with the amount of practice, just the scheduling. I can't imagine there would be any harm in at least listening to the players on this one issue and switch it up.
Players are going to bitch
AnishPatel : 11/18/2017 11:08 am : link
about something. Didn't TC get ripped for his training camp. If I am not mistaken Strahan and O'hara were mad over it. Was this a new thing or were we using the same schedule last year, when we were winning?
