After that shit burger on Tuesday night, it's time for a new thread. Tonight starts the first of 4 games within the division - a division clearly better than PJ's (fellatio of the) Central. We are 2-3-2 against the Metro this year, time to improve that mark.
--Zibanejad is out tonight with a concussion. We only play 2 games in the next 7 days so cross our fingers he's back next weekend, but he's got a history of these so... I'm concerned and we cant afford to lose him for too long.
--McDonaugh, positively, is expected back tonight. A real coach that holds players accountable (like Buchnevich, JT Miller, Deangelo and Clendening in years past)... benches Holden tonight for costing us the game on Tuesday. But I'm fine with benching Kampfer instead too.. because Kampfer sucks at hockey. No news on Brendon Smith who took quite a shot to his leg late tuesday, so i'm assuming he's fine.
Not sure yet who is in net tonight. Hank could probably use another mental break, but Pavelec's 89% save percentage doesnt instill much confidence. Both will be used next weekend for the back-to-back.
Win or lose I'm taking my 6 year old son tonight to his first ever Rangers MSG home game. He's so excited he wore his jersey to school this morning (kindergarten) and is telling all his friends. That shits more important than wins and losses so I'm amped up. #LGR
Let's start us a new streak tonight.
Suck it, Jints.
I didn't realize he's had that many.
I was also not aware of that.
NBC sports report - ( New Window )
Awesome re your son -- I hope you all have an event to remmeber.
Canes last win at MSG was in 2011 ... lost 13 in a row here so I understand a Canes fans arrogance .... but rangers are 1-3-1 when I attend this year (with lundqvist yanked in 3 of the 5 games by second period).. so something's gotta give.
Not sure if it was my first time, but I remember walking into the Garden for a Rangers game when I was young and being in absolute awe.
My opinion - he doesn’t blow you away, but he’s extremely solid and responsible. I’d rather have a guy like that playing 4C for my squad than wasting 2-3M of cap room.
Favorable possession metrics even with pretty heavy DZ starts, 50% face offs.
We just rushed to the train and made it by a minute - good work. Not our best effort by any means but good to see an opponent pay for adding a 6th skater when they were dominating possession anyway and we make them pay
I'm pretty sure over half Grabners goals this year now are empty netters. Can't believe fans wasted good hats lol but We'll take it. Much needed two points with some varsity road games upcoming in Pittsburgh and Washington
Carolina plays a heavy game - really good puck possession and defensive team, could be Columbus I guess down the line... but their goaltending really sucks and they don't have enough speed/finishers up front.
I thought of you immediately when we gave up the early goal... you were probably getting ready for another early Lundqvist exit and disappointing performance.
I really feel like Grabner's EN goals are more valuable than most will say. Having a guy who can help us ice games like that is important.
Obviously he was here last year and we still gave up a bunch of tying goals in those situations - but even in years past, we could never get that fucking goal to just end the game and always had to sweat out the entire ~90 seconds of 6v5 until it was over.
Need MIka back, but it was good to see Mac on the ice. Good win. Let's start another streak.
Suck it, Jints.
Arc - agree with you and grabner is also probably our best penalty killer too. He's been a terrific addition to the team. Unfortunately I doubt they can fit him under the cap next year though
