Engram and Ellison were two of the few bright spots this year.
Ellison? WTF did Ellison do to justify his $18 million contract? Another Reese reach. They thought he was "underutilized" in Minnesota. Turns out Minnesota knew him pretty well and let him walk.

So, what, McAdoo knew what he was doing in this case, but nothing else?

Hes making all of 2.25 mil this year and 3.75 mil next year - its essentially a 2 year deal that the Giants can easily get rid of after the 2018 season. But please, continue bitching about the contract like you have any clue how it breaks down.
Both Coughlin and McAdoo did a brutal job with these guys. They drove me nuts with Donnell. The guy had enormous flaws in his game but did one thing really well many times: catch the high ball in traffic in the end zone. So what did they do? They utilized him everywhere else and gave him the chance to somersault to failure.
For a team that was so spotty in the red zone, failing to use the one strong aspect of Donnell's game was aggravating.
Ellison is some kind of find with his 92 receiving yards and his 5 million signing bonus and million dollar salary this season. Sullivan hasn't figured out how to get anything out of him either so he's 0-3 with coaches. Minnesota paid him 1.75 million on a one year deal. Ellison'a agent must have told him to sign quick before the fools change their minds.
Donnell who is out of the league and Tye a practice squad player were wasted talents however.
Ellison played for peanuts. He'll earn more money next season, and it won't mean anything, because they can simply cut their dead weight on unneeded parts like Dwayne Harris and save a bunch of money.
by a coach who literally didn’t have a clue what to do week to week. Critiquing the skill position players based on 2017 is basically impossible right now.
Citing Ellison's receiving yards is also kind of pointless - he wasn't really brought here to be a pass catcher as much as he was brought here to block.
He and Engram are a good complementary TE tandem and a better coach will utilize Ellison better than McAdoo did.
Your really looking for a new and cohesive HC OC OL coaching combination. The engine of the O. And someone to integrate the other parts to that as a starting spot. Rather than an afterthought.
anyways, I liked Tye. Consistently got 4-6 yards and put in a lot of effort.
Each team can have up to 4 practice squad players who have 2 accrued seasons (which is what Tye has).

It will be interesting what new coach does with OC, OL and TE unit coaching / coaches.
Besides the unique and high pick EE and the big free agent, we dont seem to be developing tight ends well.
Gil's Jr might be more a WR coach type ?

but that was all Mike Pope's fault right? :-) They let go the best TE coach maybe EVER.
Just like the OL was Flaherty's fault and Solari was going to make everything well. At least that was the BBI consensus. How that work out?
What's harder to see is which ones can deviate from their system in order to integrate it with other coaches concepts and which cannot.
It may or may not be fair to Solari. He had to run Mac/Sully ball.
But he probably sees the writing on the wall anyway.
It's time for cohesive roster integrated with a new o line system and also system specific proven position coaches starting on the O line.
That should be top of mind starting with GM search even. Rather than a hodge podge or afterthought.
