He's now on the Patriots practice squad.. sounds like he didn't make it there either. What's your point?

(Seriously, we can't really call him L'il B'ill anymore) sure likes the Giants TEs.....
how is he eligible for the practice squad
Jerz44 : 12/6/2017 2:33 pm : link
i thought there were rules against stashing guys there and he played almost every game last year, no?

anyways, I liked Tye. Consistently got 4-6 yards and put in a lot of effort.
Would never have heard is name if Gronk didn't get suspended

Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Will Tye sucks. Tries hard but he sucks. And the NYG have 3 capable

TEs on the roster all of whom are better than Tye.. Not their fault that McAdumb couldn't or wouldn't deploy them all
This is who Reese

handed the coaching staff as a starting tight end. A guy cut by the Jets and only good enough to make the Patriots practice squad. Buh Bye Jerry.

Each team can have up to 4 practice squad players who have 2 accrued seasons (which is what Tye has).
You think he's calling his wife and saying "Baby we made it!

I'm on the practice squad!"
They must have changed the rules concerning the

practice squad. He's not much of a player , but Brady like the true franchise QB that he is, raises the level of play by his teammates. Appreciably .
I hope your not criticizing the TE group

Engram and Ellison were two of the few bright spots this year.

Ellison? WTF did Ellison do to justify his $18 million contract? Another Reese reach. They thought he was "underutilized" in Minnesota. Turns out Minnesota knew him pretty well and let him walk.

So, what, McAdoo knew what he was doing in this case, but nothing else?

Hes making all of 2.25 mil this year and 3.75 mil next year - its essentially a 2 year deal that the Giants can easily get rid of after the 2018 season. But please, continue bitching about the contract like you have any clue how it breaks down.
Belichick has signed a few of our TE outcasts

If only the infallible Tom Coughlin would have been here to cut Tye. But wait ...
The use of Tye and especially Donnell was horrific
Go Terps : 12/6/2017 8:25 pm : link
Both Coughlin and McAdoo did a brutal job with these guys. They drove me nuts with Donnell. The guy had enormous flaws in his game but did one thing really well many times: catch the high ball in traffic in the end zone. So what did they do? They utilized him everywhere else and gave him the chance to somersault to failure.

For a team that was so spotty in the red zone, failing to use the one strong aspect of Donnell's game was aggravating.
let me get this straight.
HomerJones45 : 12/6/2017 9:01 pm : link
Ellison is some kind of find with his 92 receiving yards and his 5 million signing bonus and million dollar salary this season. Sullivan hasn't figured out how to get anything out of him either so he's 0-3 with coaches. Minnesota paid him 1.75 million on a one year deal. Ellison'a agent must have told him to sign quick before the fools change their minds.

Donnell who is out of the league and Tye a practice squad player were wasted talents however.

Check.
Veterans minimum for a 6 year vet is $775k.
Ten Ton Hammer : 12/6/2017 11:28 pm : link

Ellison played for peanuts. He'll earn more money next season, and it won't mean anything, because they can simply cut their dead weight on unneeded parts like Dwayne Harris and save a bunch of money.
Ellison was also deployed in a broken offense
UConn4523 : 12/6/2017 11:31 pm : link
by a coach who literally didn’t have a clue what to do week to week. Critiquing the skill position players based on 2017 is basically impossible right now.
.
arcarsenal : 12/6/2017 11:34 pm : link
Citing Ellison's receiving yards is also kind of pointless - he wasn't really brought here to be a pass catcher as much as he was brought here to block.

He and Engram are a good complementary TE tandem and a better coach will utilize Ellison better than McAdoo did.
Donnell sucked

Putting Tye aside
idiotsavant : 12/7/2017 8:50 am : link
So to speak.

It will be interesting what new coach does with OC, OL and TE unit coaching / coaches.

Besides the unique and high pick EE and the big free agent, we dont seem to be developing tight ends well.

Gil's Jr might be more a WR coach type ?
Obviously
idiotsavant : 12/7/2017 8:53 am : link
Your really looking for a new and cohesive HC OC OL coaching combination. The engine of the O. And someone to integrate the other parts to that as a starting spot. Rather than an afterthought.

but that was all Mike Pope's fault right? :-) They let go the best TE coach maybe EVER.

Just like the OL was Flaherty's fault and Solari was going to make everything well. At least that was the BBI consensus. How that work out?
It's not hard to find coaches and coordinators
idiotsavant : 12/7/2017 9:15 am : link
That have proven they run the heck out out of the ball.

What's harder to see is which ones can deviate from their system in order to integrate it with other coaches concepts and which cannot.

It may or may not be fair to Solari. He had to run Mac/Sully ball.

But he probably sees the writing on the wall anyway.

It's time for cohesive roster integrated with a new o line system and also system specific proven position coaches starting on the O line.

That should be top of mind starting with GM search even. Rather than a hodge podge or afterthought.
