"It was a privilege and an honr to serve as the head coach of the New York Giants and be a member of the organization for four years. I thank the Mara family, the Tisch family, and Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin for taking the chance on a first time offensive coordinator and enabling me to take an important step in my career. My family and I enjoyed every day of my tenure with the Giants, thanks in large part to the commitment of everybody in the organization. I particularly want to thank the entire coaching staff for their dedication and hard work. I would be remiss if I did not thank the support staff who are often underappreciated but vital to the success of any football team. Finally, I will always appreciate having had the chance to coach so many outstanding players. As I have said many times, they are men of talent, and I believe in their integrity and character. I wish them and the entire organization success in the future."
earlier? What are the odds McAdoo is reading BBI? In all seriousness, seems like a good, hardworking man who just couldn't handle New York media and he is stuck in his ways. I believe he will get another chance to coach in the NFL and could be successful, just inexperienced. I wish him all the best, but thankful he is not the Giants coach anymore.
I dont think Ben nor Reese thanked the fans. I suppose I don't blame them since most of us would not walk across the street to pee on the flames if they were on fire.
about first time offensive coordinator. Makes our organization look incompetent and not doing their homework on an important position such as HC. Been discussed, but really sad how we arrived here and the painful steps that STILL are not over yet.

You're reading way too much into it. Parcells was a first-time defensive coordinator here once, as was Belichick. You win some, you lose some. Looking forward to seeing who's on deck.
and less so as HC, but I never hated the guy or rooted against him. He seems like a good guy and I hope he can find somewhere to build his skills and repair his rep.

Pretty sure Reese included the fans in his thank you.
That’s a classy note by McAdoo, during no doubt a very emotional week...not going to nitpick him over it. I’m glad we made the change, ready to move on
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. So, I don’t have anything to say.
Well non-said.
His inflexibility, his decisions and in part his GM plus this season's injuries, in that order, caused his job demise.
I said it before : He tried to be Mike McCarthy, but with even fewer inter personal skills; instead of Ben McAdoo.
His wife wrote it.. does not sound like Mack at all. Now this does not mean that I wish him ill will. I think Mack like many coaches who get fired from their first coaching job grow from it. BB was fired by the Browns and became a genius with NE. I think Mack has to learn that he has to adapt his offense to the Personnel on the team. If your QB is not Aaron Rodgers don't be stubborn about it. Run a different offense.
I am embarrassed and frustrated how this season turned out but I am ready to move on and I look forward to the future of this team. Hopefully McAdoo learns from his mistakes and can get back to being a good position coach and perhaps an OC again someday.

didnt know we had so many ex nfl HC's on this board
A similar situation as McAdoo in some form or fashion regarding our employers. Wish him the best and hope that he can learn from the experience and bring those lessons to his next opportunity
after the shit that's been posted about him here on this site and elsewhere and the fans feel slighted because he didn't thank them. wtf
LOL, yeah I find this humorous too.
He's probably seen death threats or close over the last couple months from angry fans. People have been cursing his existence and trashing him non-stop. I wouldn't be in a rush to send a thank you to those people either.
I liked him at first, wound up not being able to stand him by the time he got fired. I couldn't really care less whether he thanked the fans or not.
He won't have any hand in anything that goes on with my favorite football team for the rest of my life so at this point, I'm fine with wishing him well and moving on. I'm sure he's not a bad guy. Just a bad football coach.
"Fuck all youze guys! I went 11-5 last year and had a rough start, well, and ending to this year, but I did my best to have not good, but GREAT practices. This is the love you show me? The Maras and the Tischs and take turns tongue kissing my asshole lips, and the fans can eat a bag of dicks."
Id at least give him an "A" for chutzbah
i do not feel slighted.....but considering we are the customer Â

Bothered me too but mainly because he is making an excuse for himself.
Sorry not gonna give him much of any credit for the
11-5 record last year the Offense was a disaster and if not
for some lucky bounces and some terrible opposition coaching we could have been 7-9 It was the defense that
was deserving of the credit .
it did happen, we cant pretend it didnt
I hate how this year went, but he seems like a good man and I don't wish anything bad on him going forward.
He did his best, just wasn't meant to be and didn't work out .
Best of luck, Ben.
The "missing" bit is quite telling, in my opinion.

Man is just being honest.
... no thanks fans. lol
I'm not emotional.

i believe he was way over his head.
I got the gist, nicely done Mac. May you find success elsewhere.
it did happen, we cant pretend it didnt
This. And I wish him and his family the best.
I do believe that omitting the fans reflects on him.
The NY Giants have great fans. Unfortunately, it seems possible that he may have missed out on that. Too bad for him, his loss.
i believe he was way over his head.
George, this isn't "the customer is always right" type of situation. Most of the fans hated this guy. Again, why would he thank you?
Bothered me too but mainly because he is making an excuse for himself.
Yall are something else. Hahaha.
