Dallas brings in a 7-2 record while the Giants limped in at 1-8 not having won since week 1.
Phil Simms threw for 351 yards and 3 TD's as the Giants stunned the Cowboys 38-35.
I was 10 years old and at the game with my dad. A great day in an otherwise shit season.
The 4-12 record did allow us to draft some linebacker out of North Carolina though...
Enjoy
Cowboys at Giants - (
New Window )
you're welcome!
FYI- Dallas was a 10 point favorite in this game and the color analyst was Roger Staubach the Cowboys homer.
He wasn't as good at the deep ball as Eli but he was a helluva thrower -- and an even better leader.
I believe it was Parcells who stopped that.
Quote:
Did the same thing the following year in the game that got them in the playoffs. Worked both times.
I believe it was Parcells who stopped that.
Parcells believed in it! Go Back and look at 86.. We wore our away white uniforms against the boys. Banks broke White's wrist in that game.
Thats awesome man.
All the good was on the Defensive side: Brad Van Pelt and Harry Carson were the Pro-Bowlers at LB, Gary Jeter and George Martin at DE, SS Beasley Reese... lots of buzz about the rookie CB Mark Haynes.
Phil Simms... the small college QB taken at #7 the previous year, that a LOT of fans didn't like. Billy Taylor and Larry Heater at RB... Earnest Gray at WR.
The huge 4th down stop of the powerful Robert Newhouse, followed by The Flea Flicker!! Oh man, my favorite Giants play for many years. You can hear the crowd going off before Simms even throws the ball.
4-12 that year, but after the Dallas game the team finished the season playing hard. You could start to hope that things might be getting better...
Thanks!
