Stick with Webb and rebuild the offensive line and/or RB.
Would not be against that. If the draft were held today, the Giants pick 2nd. I agree that having the number two pick provides an opportunity and I lean towards it being an opportunity to draft a franchise QB. But if you are not in love with any of the top guys, you trade down and let a team like Buffalo give you their two first round picks. Bottom line is this team needs to exit the draft much improved and there are many ways to accomplish that.
I’m beginning to think I’d be OK going in a different direction in the early first, and seeing if one of Mayfield/Jackson survive until the second round.

I think it's very likely Jackson is there for our 2nd round pick. My guess is Allen will be as well.
Be it Jackson, Allen, Mayfield. I would take a shot there. There are just too many question marks with these guys right now, especially if Darnold stays at USC.
I’d be shocked if Allen lasts beyond the top 10-15 picks... Â
Josh seems tailor made for the Senior Bowl and combine process; he’ll get to throw to legitimate receivers, his physical tools will blow away scouts and pro personnel that work him live, and his personality will shine during interviews.
Polian was saying yesterday he didn't see much difference in the top 5 Â
QB's, so he says you may see teams waiting until Rd 2. This may be a thought for us. Grab Barkley or Nelson in Rd 1, then take a flyer on who falls into Rd 2 to compete with Webb. This would work if Eli stays with the Giants.
Stick with Webb and rebuild the offensive line and/or RB.
I would take everything these evaluators say with a grain of salt. They may be planting negative seeds about a guy in the hope that the player will drop, or they may just like to hear themselves talk. A bit of what they say is either overblown or outright BS. Darnold does have a long delivery, but Matthew Stafford did too, and he was able to tighten it up. Kerry Collins had one of the slowest deliveries I've seen in the NFL, and he did pretty well.
And while it's OK to point out porential red flags with a guy's personality, I think they are overstating Rosen's. Scouts can get a better feel for how players come across by interviewing coaches, teammates and even teachers.
comparison/contrast of arm strength, et al. I think what we need that is more important is what Eli gave us. Clutch player that can lead an offense down the field pull out a win when it has to happen. That is difference we should be looking for and not their pedigree, school or rocket arm.
were criticized a couple of years ago by a lot of the same talent evaluators. The Rams and Eagles were universally mocked for trading up for those two. You just never know.
The throwing motion isn't clean for Darnold. Slow and as the articles says "loopy". Not a quick release at all. He's overrated. He isnt the guy in this draft.
If you're going QB you take the shot with the better arm talent with Rosen. It's not close between these 2.
As we get closer to the draft, Darnold will get ripped in the media as reports from NFL guys start coming out and he will "drop". He isn't going at the top of round 1 in the draft.

I think so too
When watching Rosen and Darnold play, Rosen jumps off the screen with his arm, mechanics, smoothness... and he has that cockiness about his ability too, like Rodgers. I can't say Darnold does the same for me.
Rosen may not be a Rodgers caliber athlete, but he has moxie and can slide around, and put the ball on a rope.
I think everyone else has more questions, and are more of a crapshoot. I think if there is such a thing as a franchise guy, which I don't think there is, then it would be Rosen.

Both were considered by so-called scouts as consolation prizes for a QB weak class. They were wrong. I'm starting to warm to Jackson and I like Rosen.
but Rosen blew me away with some of the throws he made in the USC/UCLA game. I've yet to have that same reaction watching Darnold. My uninformed rankings would be Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, Allen.
Allen is the guy I would love. Two years under Eli would get the kid ready. Then you have a 6.5' 230 lb monster who runs better than Wentz with a big arm.

Outside of him I like Rosen
Allen is very enticing. He reminds me of Roethlisberger. I think Allen will to shoot up draft boards after the combine, pro day, etc. I could see Mara and co. having Allen at the top of their board with the #2 pick especially if Darnold returns to school. I would be more excited about Allen if Eli definitely returns next season as it would give Allen time to develop without the immediate pressure to start from day one.
had to revamp his throwing motion also. The reason he succeeded was because he sat behind Favre for three years correcting his throwing motion. If Darnold is able to come in and sit behind Eli for a season then he would have a much better chance to succeed.
After the new GM and HC, Giants type may not be Giants type anymore.
Mayfield reminds me very much of Drew Brees. That is not bad.
Rosen looks like an Eli clone(sans personalty)....not bad either.

Rosen reminds me of Matt Ryan. Darnold reminds me of a more athletic Eli.
How anyone could advocate Baker Mayfield is beyond me.. Â
We're keeping Eli, then Darnold or Allen to stash behind him to learn and improve mechanics.
If we aren't then we need a guy like Rosen who is more NFL ready.
Mayfield is still my favorite. I've always preferred the gamer/leader types.
If Eli does leave I would still prefer them to sign a stop gap like they did in 2004. Some names that might be willing to sign for 1 year are Josh McCown, Alex Smith, Matt Moore, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford.
Rosen - already wearing knee brace
Darnold- Overrated USC system QB
Mayfield - too short
Allen - Wyoming? beat CSU in snowstorm, strong arm
Jackson - can he put on 20 lbs?

I think Rosen is more accurate and spins it better than Eli same with Mayfield minus the so called height problem
Are you folks here aware that Rosen didn't play or finish 11 of his last 19 games? He may have the best throwing motion and accuracy on the deep ball but he isn't going to help you much when he is hurt. Also, UCLA's record with him there is not stellar. How many top quarterbacks don't win in college?
I like my quarterbacks with greater escapability then Rosen.
One game doesn't tell you much but I am anxious to see how Darnold and Mayfield do in their bowl games.
Anyone here really seen much of Josh Allen play?
2)mayfield
3)Darnold
4)Allen
#3 Does not exist. ENOUGH WITH MAYFIELD. Too short and a clusterfuck as a personality. Would be a media disaster in NY.
Stick with Webb and rebuild the offensive line and/or RB.

Wish they included Jackson in the piece.

What scares me about Darnold, is that he has the escape-ability, but not the arm strength.
Stick with Webb and rebuild the offensive line and/or RB.
From this piece it seems like:
Rosen
Allen
Darnold
Mayfield.
Darnold's loopy throwing motion will take a ton of effort to fix if it can be fixed. Throwing motions are tough to change.
Hard hitting analysis by the NFL men.
Stick with Webb and rebuild the offensive line and/or RB.

Allen should have been Rosen

maybe Rosen will pull an Eli/elway
Outside of him I like Rosen
He's arrogant? Who cares - many elite athletes are.

Unfortunately I agree. I think Mara would rather take a chance on Josh Allen than Mayfield.

If we pick a guy who needs a year, throw Webb to the wolves if Eli's not here.

Eli will not be on the team. And, quite frankly, we don't want him on the team as he just confuses the situation with only short-term minimal value.
We want a strong HC or QB Coach that can help mature and develop both Webb and the rookie quarterback we pick at #2, not Eli.
Eli is a nice guy who is just in the way at this point...
