NFT: Artie Lange Dying?

Jints in Carolina : 12/9/2017 10:27 am
Artie Lange is reportedly suffering from an addiction and a series of health ailments that have left him “at death’s door,” leaving fans of the actor and comedian worried.

Fans became concerned this week when Lange had to cancel his appearance on the Artie and Anthony Show, saying he was suffering from the flu. But Radar Online shed more light on his health struggles, noting that doctors are worried about Lange’s deteriorating condition and questioning in a headline if he could be “at death’s door.”

The celebrity news outlet interviewed Artie’s mother, Judy Lange, who said that her son is fighting a number of conditions — namely his addictions.

It’s a long, sad history for Artie Lange. Hard livings take its toll. He is not well and will likely be dead soon.
fucking sad and distrurbing

I subscribe to the Artie and Anthony Show and Artie is always late even for a show that begins at 4 PM and lasts until only 6. He looks so awful all the time. He looks very tired.

Sincere question
Moondawg : 12/9/2017 10:40 am : link
I've never listened to Stern, aside from rare youtube interview snippets. Is Artie talented? Why is he famous? I only know of him because I'm a huge Norm fan and they are old friends.

Also, how the hell did his nose get like that?

Artie is legitimately funny. Sterns show was always entertaining when I listened, but I think artie was the only one that made me laugh. Same goes formad tv. He was way funnier than jackie. He is also a great story teller. However the dude is a bad train wreck. He's done it to himself, but I feel bad for him.
I knew Artie growing up in NJ as he lived across the street from me
Larry in Pencilvania : 12/9/2017 11:10 am : link
It saddens me as I always remember him as being very athletic and being a very good baseball player, something he was very proud of and put in time and effort to improve his skills. He was never one to judge if you weren't as athletic as him or out right sucked(me). One of my fondest memories with him was shooting hoops I'm his backyard.

I think the accident where his father fell and was paralyzed and eventually died has traumatized him all these years. There's more going on with that then anyone really knows
''Talented'' is a stretch for Artie
Overseer : 12/9/2017 11:13 am : link
but what he is - vulgar & abrasive jersey trash - is appealing to some (including me) and played well for most of his run on Howard. Definitely some of the best years of the show.

This looks bad (infection from snorting heroin) but he's been more or less in this state for so long - nointy noine years by my count - how can you really know "this is it"...?

Good luck Artie.

I believe you're correct Larry. He has referenced his fathers accident and death as a trigger point many times
Not crazy about his standup

But he is a great and funny storyteller. It's a shame he can't shake his demons.

On the show he mentions he had a flu shot and he thinks it gave him the flu. He sounded fine. That picture posted today, but is probably from last week when he had the flu.
That picture looks like someone -

punched him in the nose.

Not really a fan of his stand-up but, he was GREAT on Stern, great story teller and ball breaker. He was also very quick with funny ad-libs.

Get well Artie.

the dude cannot even show up on time for a show that starts at 4pm Monday-Thursday. And I don't believe anything he says anyway. He lies.....a lot.
Yeah. He's talked about his dad
Motley Two : 12/9/2017 11:46 am : link
in detail. He blew off going to work with his dad to go hustle pool with a buddy. He would have been the one holding the ladder his dad ended up falling from. He's also said that after his accident his father would regularly ask Artie to help him end his life. Really sad story.

my sister was friends with him. She was in the TV business for a while. She and I are sitting in starbucks in Hoboken and Artie walks in. Comes over to talk. The guy literally walked down the street in his bathrobe and slippers to get a cup of coffee. Did not brush his hair... nothing.

Wow Larry, thanks for the insight. I didn't know you knew him.

Here's a true story. My family moved into the neighborhood in 1969 making me 1 and Artie 2. My dad was outside moving stuff in and Artie's dad was walking him in a stroller. At that time Artie had long blonde flowing locks. Mr Lange walked up and welcomed my dad to the neighborhood and my dad said boy what a beautiful daughter you have. His dad stormed off furious with mine and didn't speak to my dad for at least ten years.

His dad was different than all my other friends' father as he was younger, active, had a Harley, would be out there playing catch. He was a very nice guy.

One thing I can say is growing up all the other kids in the neighborhood were Cowboy or Steeler fans. I had no idea he was a huge Giants fan and he would never know I was as the Giants sucked so bad in the 70s we were both too embarrassed to admit it.

His life really revolved around the Yankees. No matter what if the Yankees were on he left. Same with This Week In Baseball.

Last time I saw him was junior high. I broke my foot at his house when his father door came down on my foot. He never asked what happened out how I was. Shortly after he went to high school and got new friends and then the shit went down with his dad.

My sister used to work in NYC in the early 2000s around the time he was on Stern. They would bump into each other on the train and he'd ask how I was. She'd also run into his sister w/o was working in the city in the fashion industry.

The only thing my sister would say is there are some demons in that family but there's no proof

Larry, did you see signs of addiction when you lived next to him? Also, what type of fall did his father take?
His dad was doing roofing work
Motley Two : 12/9/2017 1:44 pm : link
and Artie was supposed to be helping him that day. His dad fell and ended up paralyzed. I think he loss use of all his limbs if I remember correctly. Think it was the Marc Maron podcast where he talks about it in detail.
I like Artie and don't mean this to come across douchy

but i'm kind of surprised he's not dead yet based on how many times I've heard he's on deaths doorstep.

dude seems to have nine lives.

I liked his small part on crashing on HBO this past summer.

When I seen the picture it looks like someone just woke up and has the flu.
I sure hope I never get that strain of the flu.

Don Rickles dressing down Artie's character is the best part of the whole thing.

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Comedian Artie Lange has been arrested for skipping a court appearance.

NJ.com reports Lange was arrested Tuesday night at his home in Hoboken. Authorities say Lange failed to appear in Superior Court in Essex County for charges stemming from a drug arrest earlier this year.
