Eli Apple retweeted a highlight of the Cowboys running back scoring on us today. He's still living in the past of his OSU days and being an overall shitty teammate.
underachieving 1st round draft pick, healthy scratch, reported attitude issues - tweets about highlights made by opposing player - yeah ur right, why get upset?
Eli Apple retweeted a highlight of the Cowboys running back scoring on us today. He's still living in the past of his OSU days and being an overall shitty teammate.
Adam, I think he deleted the tweet of the cowboys highlight. But plenty of people saw it and called him out on it. There was another tweet or response to a tweet. Someone pointed it out in the game thread, but that also seems to be missing. Basically, someone asked him why he was inactive, and he responded that "I guess I'm too healthy" with a emoticon.
A number of issues beside being a shitty teammate. I thought the NFL had a restriction on player's tweeting during the game - active or inactive. Also, by saying that he is healthy despite the injury designation on the injury report, it questions the team's dealings. Are they making up the injury to stash a player instead of the shit storm if he was a healthy scratch? Can the NFL penalize the Giants for tinkering with the injury report?
I don't know what to make of it, but he is one that I would like to see traded this off-season. He still has talent and is affordable, so he should be worth some draft collateral. If he can't be traded, then an outright release. Let him get picked up on waivers by Cleveland.
If they cut him in the offseason, how much dead cap space is there

Also, as has been suspected, but many think it was Eli Apple who was one of the anonymous leaks.

I understand and agree with all you wrote.
The problem is that I don't know how much he is worth. Cockrell was had for a 7th round conditional pick. Apple was a first round pick and may only be able to net a 5th rounder? Or is it going to be even less?
What's the market on first round headcases who haven't reached their ceiling?

I wouldn't even hazard a guess. But he is a cancer that need to be removed. Like the old saying, "one bad apple will spoil the bunch".
His contract is up. He will waste while he doesnt get to improve the n his deficiencies and never get a second contract worth a damn. Hope he studied something and has other plans, cause he isnt long for the NFL. Sucks, what a shitty draft, at least we got Sheppard. Ive been patient with Apple, but his continued actions make me like him less and less, he isnt good enough of a player to justify his actions. He sucks and doesnt even play hard, what a bust.
Bill parcells, would most likely not have had eli apple on his grocery list, but if he was compelled to draft eli number one.....he would have groomed him from day one, and none of this nonsense would be occurring or it would be occurring, but not on the giants team more likely buffalo or Cleveland.
We passed on Laremy Tunsil for Apple. I'm also thrilled that we passed on Gurley for Flowers. If Reese wasn't a dumb fuck we'd have a good OL and a stud RB but instead we have a lazy stupid CB, a LT who can't block and a shit head WR. Zach Martin, Laremy Tunsil and Todd Gurley or Odell, Flowers and Apple. Fuck you Jerry Reese.

Imagine if you could rip up all contracts given by a former GM?
look into Apple's "injury" further and his tweeting while a game is ongoing. I hate the content of his posts (highlights of other players against the Giants), but you can't stop him from speaking his mind. But they should look into if he actually has an injury or if the injury is only a cover to keep a malcontent from suiting up. Digging deeper was Apple one of the sources that were airing the dirty laundry earlier in the season? If so, why hasn't he been suspended with conduct detrimental to the team. By initiating such a suspension, it voids the guarantees in his contract allows the team to pursue repayment of prorated portions of the signing bonus.
There have clearly been problems with Apple this season. One source said hes disliked within the organization. That would make sense given he has been shelved the past four weeks and has started only seven games this season.
I agree. But the timing of such action might have been another PR black-eye with his mother undergoing brain surgery at the time. There are just too many incidents that point to a short tenure with the team. In order to get out from under his contract, necessary administrative actions need to happen and that begins with a suspension that is conduct detrimental to the team.
get traded or released at this point. His reputation is being tarnished as a healthy scratch and this is his way of fighting back. i think the new coach will get a crack at him though.

Thanks, Jeff. I hope this story continues to be shown the bright light and other beat reporters pick up the story.

You had me until Zach Martin over Odell. Even Dallas would take Beckham over Martin 100 times out of 100.

Don't mind Joey. He's gotta find a way to mix in at least one shot at Beckham per week. Finding a way to fit a top five player in with failed and struggling draft picks is a new one.

Dude WTF is wrong with you? Odell had the best first 3 seasons for a WR in the history of the NFL. Almost 300 catches, 5000+ yards, 35 TDs, even though he missed like 5 games his rookie season? Yeah really wish we didn't draft that once in a generation play-maker so we could have had Zack fucking Martin.
I was about to say hindsight is 20/20 until I read that part of your post, turns out your hindsight is on some Stevie Wonder shit.
Can we in any real sense expect more than a 5th or 6th round pick? Dude is such a fucking dickhead.
Quit projecting. It shows an obvious lack of adjustment to the pro game on Apple's part. Try getting with the times.

Wow. Just wow.
Get this guy the fuck out of here ...
Guy is the most weak minded individual in big blue history.
Wow.

Apple is a loser.
