Self scout the season... What went wrong?... if you had to make a case for some of those guys to come back, what would you tell the new coach and GM?
What went wrong? "One of the corners needs to grow up"... Etc. I'm not sure that's exactly a self-scout, but that's what he thinks went wrong. "That would be the only person I would change out of the secondary group."
In fairness to Apple, Collins was hobbled by a high ankle sprain and wasn't at full strength most of the season. DRC and Jenkins both got suspended. Is that all on "one of the corners"? If so, what the hell is going on in that room?
What case would you make to bring guys back? "DRC and Jackrabbit, I love those guys, they play hard..." That's definitely a case to bring guys back. There's been talk of letting DRC go, and after the Jenkins suspension, him too.
I think a suspension would be in order as well if he was able to play. Who the hell does he think he is, pissing on a teammate in the media? First of all, Landon Collins had a shit season. His games against the Rams and Niners were comical. As for Apple, whatever his problems, when he was on the field , he graded out as their best corner.
Urban didn't have any problem motivating him. I don't think Collins ever got over being humiliated by Zeke and OSU. Maybe it's a Buckeye thing . Today's synopsis regarding the interview: Landon Collins is a cancer.
Who is coaching this team, anyway.? I mean Spagnuolo is a chronic mastutbator-given but this horse shit would not be going on if Coughlin were around .

That fines/suspends Collins for speaking what the vast majority of the locker room believes and for speaking out against a player who quit on his team, threatened to walk out on his team, disrespected a position coach, called an all pro player and team leader a liar, and is rumored to be the source of anonymous leaks to ESPN?
I'd certainly talk to Collins and explain why for the good of the team you don't air dirty laundry, but any punishment of Collins looks like a defense of apple, and you just can't create that perception. Undercut your lone pro bowl player because he called out your malcontent cornerback on the radio? I wouldn't.

for a minute there i thought you were describing DRC and Jenkins. both had situations this year with putting themselves before the team and getting suspended because of it. but Collins defended those guys in his interview.
and its ironic that Apple is rumored to be the source of leaks, but Collins is the one singing on live radio
when the previous leaks came out, the consensus among the interviewed players was that the leaker was a coward because he was unwilling to put his name to his words. Hiding in the shadows to carp and complain.

This is not that.
true, but its still weak, imo
someone should have asked Collins "you know anyone suffering from cancer"
or at least Collins, *have* actually handled it in house. This has been going on for weeks and I think it's not unreasonable to believe that it's not only the coaches' perspectives that put him on the inactive list for so many games. If the players were not on board, then you would have heard about the unfair treatment of Apple and you would have seen overt discontent about the benching. I would bet that Collins' remarks are either a "dam is broken and I don't really give a crap who thinks what anymore" or a last ditch effort to get Apple to change through more than just peer pressure (which obviously has not worked) but public pressure, or a move to force management to remove him from the team because Apple is irredeemable.
My best guess is that the comments not only were intentional, but strategic.

.
That's all you need to hear, if that's not a microcosm
of this maddening season, don't know what is then.
As Parcells would say to the media, 'there it is right there, subversive from within'...
put it on the new GM and coaching staff to decide who stays and who does not. With that being said, you can't make any sense of this season. You can't put Jankins and DRC in the same sentence as Apple. They are proven pros and Apple is not. Cant overestimate the schism that McAdooo created. No one was right in this season when you look at the quitting that went on with this team. Certain players deserve the benefit of the doubt, others do not. Quitting is bullshit, but I don't doubt that it was something that a real leader could have not only avoided, but could have used whatever situation that created it to instead inspire his players.
Collins should have not said it, but Apple has only shown flashes of ability, not greatness, he doesn't have the resume of a DRC or a Jenkins. Not saying not giving 100% is ever ok, but as far as Collins defending DRC and JR over Apple, I understand.
He's asked, in short:
