we the fans, haven’t seen him or can evaluate him, the staff can. They haven’t seen him play in a game, but they know a ton more about him than the QBs in this upcoming draft. If they feel he is the future, I trust that more than scouting reports on this upcoming class.
happens in the draft, it's impossible not to be impressed with Webb. His work ethic and maturity are phenomenal. I also think there's a reasonable chance the Giants don't draft a QB. We have a lot of holes, and Rosen, Darnold, and Allen are all flawed.

Almost every prospect is flawed if you look hard enough.
Perceived flaws caused Marino and Rodgers to drop into the 20s when earlier reports had them going in the top 5 in their respective drafts.
Giants will draft a QB in RD 1...because it's going to be tough to compete in that division without one.

I think we see all college QBs have flaws...just how big they are is what is the issue I agree with you that I am leaning towards also them not drafting a QB
While being at #2 is when you have to take a chance at a QB when the opportunity presents itself and your QB is 37 but can't seem to get onboard with the performances I have seen with the Darnold or Rosen I havent seen Allen enough in more than just 1 game.
I have watched a bunch of PSU games and Barkely is a stud and I know you don't get a RB at #2 but he isn't an ordinary RB. Him and ODell would be 2 super athletes that we just need to build an OL around at least for next year.
He is not guaranteed to be a great NFL quarterback because there are no sure things but he has the lowest bust factor by far among the QBs. However, the concussions are a concern, especially given his background. I could definitely see him walking away from the game if he gets another concussion. And I would not blame him one bit but it has to be factored in.

What’s so insurmountable about the QBs in the division?
Cousins — fool’s gold
Dak — exposed as a one read donk QB
Wentz — mobile QB coming off a torn ACL

Not to mention that his Dad is a spine-surgeon, who I would expect would advise him to stop playing if he has further head injuries.

You've convinced me!
Wentz will never be the same, all the other QBs in the division and for that matter then NFL suck and the Giants will win multiple Super Bowls without a good QB.
Why waste a draft pick on a top college QB when they've got a 3rd RD clipboard holder waiting in the wings?
I get a huge chuckle out of everybody absolutely Â
Stating that Webb is not a consideration for the heir apparent to Eli. None of us know where Webb is at. The staff only knows and we will only know during the draft where the Giants will stand at QB . I wouldn’t be surprised if he is in the plans and the Giants don’t select a QB in round 1 or 2 for that matter. I would wait and see for us before making an absolute statements that we need a QB in this draft. The draft is used to build for the future and it involves multiple positions.
Roll the dice is a horrible strategy. Jets have been rolling the dice for years. People must forget what it’s like not having a franchise QB. It ain’t pretty except in years where you get lucky and a lot of other things come together. The importance of QB is far and away more important than any other position. It’s the most important position in all of sports. Yet poster after poster here want to employ similar strategy at QB this team has been following for OLine. Good grief.

The question is whether the flaws are sufficient to disqualify any of the QBs from being the #2 pick.

Agreed. Nobody knows what the Giants think of Webb.

I’ve never been a Webb truther, but to act like the rest of the division is stacked at the QB position is ridiculous.
and we have not heard anything about Webb and spent all his time on the practice squad.
Do you think the organization wants to communicate the truth to you that they thought Eli had 4 more years in him and that may have been optimistic. Webb from his history does some to have accomplished much in his collegiate career and is likely a project. Dude was bouncing all over the place, now he has spent an entire year learning a system that will likely go away now.
We find out what the Giants think of Webb on draft day.
+1, this is the truth. If we pass on a QB its not because we are sticking with Eli forever. Its because the team thinks Webb is as good as anyone coming out, and will be the guy of the future.
what does Webb have in his college resume that anyone can point out? Somehow I am not believing this Area51 stealth level BS about him.
In 2016, Webb completed 382 of 620 passes (62%) for 4295 yards, 37 touchdowns and twelve interceptions for a 135.63 QBR. He set school single-season records for passing attempts, completions and total plays while tying three other school records, including total touchdowns (43 (37 passing, 6 rushing)), and 300-yard passing games (10). In 2016, he was named the Golden Bear's Season MVP and won the Reese's Senior Bowl MVP award. Webb was also nominated to the College Football All-America Team, and was a semi-finalist for both the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
In 2013 for Texas Tech he was also the Holiday Bowl's MVP in (as a freshman) with 403 yards passing and 4 TDs. Baker Mayfield then transferred to OU.
In 2014 he was the starter for Texas Tech, but broke his foot in the 8th game. Mahomes took over and Webb ended up backing him up in 2015 before transferring.
Playing in the elements watching Eli and being his clipboard man seeing how Eli’s and the teams emotions were going in Met Life stadium is big and very valuable to this kids Growth he’s already got a year in more experience than a draftee is going to have ....he will be ahead ,if Eli is here for 2 more years than this kid is good enough to not draft a QB so build the Oline and other positions and make another run at a SB I say

What staff? Weren’t they all just fired?
This is one situation where the typical response of, Â
"they see him in practice everyday;they know what they have..." doesn't work. For one thing, it looks like these coaches will be gone. For another, they haven't seen him in practice.

Exactly. Webb is a complete unknown and huge gamble as the Eli replacement at this point. This is why they have to go QB if they really like one of the top guys.
I thought Webb had a good year. He showed himself well sitting Â

He was not on the practice squad for one minute. He was on the 53-man roster all season.
Training Camp as well. DG is going to go over not just game tape, but practice tape as well in his evaluations.
He's not just going over what the ex-coaches or current players say about Webb, or other players like Flowers, Apple, etc that he needs to make decisions on when planning for the draft.
Yeah it's unfortunate.

Solid reserves at RB and TE.
Roll the dice with Eli and Webb for 2018
Focus the rest of the draft BPAs OL, LB, DL, S
Use FA to get a couple veteran OL and another WR
I hope the new regime rehab Apple and Flowers as they have talent.
Offensive line
Start by resigning Fluker for RG
Move Flowers to RT
That would give us a large strong mean right side.
Wheeler at LT
Jones at Center.
Try to IMPROVE ALL through FA and draft.

I think the Giants are smart to play this very close to the vest.
Also the fact that Reese isn't around to protect his 'ego' by overestimating Webb is a good factor.
I wonder if Eli's opinion will be important under the new regime.
All unknowns that re important and make this off-season particularly interesting.

I might have written this post myself.
I agree with everything in it.
jugger ... you're cursed! :)
If there is a a partner I would trade down or else highest talent on the board regardless of position.
I think a starting RB could be gotten later and extra picks would maximize getting value (eg Wynn for LG).
