Finally, a win in 2nd of back-to-backs last night. Take positives wherever we can get them. Career-high for Allen, the kid’s showing great promise as an interior force. RHJ and Caris becoming so steady every night. Second half of season will be very interesting with Okafor (Wednesday) and Russell (mid-Jan.?) coming soon. Really interested to see what we can get out of Jah. As always, small steps with this team but as K. Irving said about Nets the other night, “they really make you work hard for 48 minutes. Tremendous energy.” Can’t ask for much more than that. Just staying the course with Atkinson and Marks. Get me to 30+ wins this year and I’ll be a happy man.
Have to love the player development

We are witnessing with Allen, RHJ, Levert, and Harris. Very exciting to see. Getting Russell back will help offensively, especially in late, close games. To see this team fighting hard every night, playing team ball, and only 6 games behind last years win total, is great.

Not to mention, it worsens Boston's pick, which is the smallest bit of retribution after the biggest trade rape in quite some time (maybe ever).
cleveland has the pick now.

teams desperately needs a stretch 4.
most glaring need for the system.
Allen and Levert have seen great development
Levert has a lot more talent than expected

that move on the ball has done wonders for him. When Russell comes back I hope they start him at SG and let Dinwiddie continue starting at PG to keep Levert in the same role he's playing now.

I think they are going to trade Harris for a stretch 4. Harris and a 2nd for DJ Wilson would appear to be a trade that fills needs for both teams.
Consider me impressed...

The list of things to be excited about is long. The production this staff has been able to get out of guys like Dinwiddie, Harris, etc, for pennies on the dollar is impressive.

I love the way the roster is composed. Marks managed to compile a really nice blend of guys with little to no assets. It's still early, but both of his first round picks (LeVert and Allen) look like steals compared to where they were drafted.

I'd be very content going into next season by just adding in the draft and not really adding any moderate to big names in free agency.

The one player/situation to keep on eye on is what's going to happen with Jabari Parker. In this system, I think he can really develop in a top-level stretch 4. The injury history is concerning, but he fits the timeline age wise. Milwaukee is going to have a tough decision to make.
The most impressive thing,

and the one asset that will carry forward as the talent gets better, is player development. Atkinson and his staff have done a phenomenal job of making NBA-quality players out of league castoffs. And Jarret Allen has made remarkable improvements.

Agree on Caris. Keep him as leader of the 2nd team off the bench. Great role for him.

yeah if they bring back Okafor and Stauskas, they basically have the roster set with the first round pick - and given the consistent development shown I'd be ok with that. They could easily waive or trade Zeller or Whitehead to make room for another addition and as you mentioned a stretch 4 would help a lot. Parker would be interesting if they could get him on some kind of prove it deal, but signing him long term would be risky. Too bad Orlando would match anything on Gordon.

It would be awesome if Washington implodes this year and they deal us Porter for Carroll to save money, similar to Portland last year.
NETS finally have a very nice foundation

and Marks and Atkinson are doing great jobs there. Almost out from under the terrible, franchise altering trade(s) of Billy King! Set this org back like 10 years! Anyway, the way this team is playing, and with the addition of DLo and Jah in the lineup, they probably won't sniff a top 10 pick in a while. Not a bad thing, but the opportunity to draft at the top of the draft now is probably a dream.
Another thing to mention is that it would've been a positive result
Vincenzo : 1/2/2018 11:17 am : link
for a fully healthy roster to get to 30 wins this season. It looks likely the Nets will have a good shot at doing that without arguably their two best players for a significant period of time. All great signs.
nice win over the twolves

Dinwiddie finally didnt settle for a 3 on a crunch time shot and it paid off.
really coming together as a team
Eric on Li : 1/3/2018 10:56 pm : link
and battling through adversity. Refs were terrible, no Levert, obviously no DLo. Crabbe's defense has picked up lately. Needs to get that shot going. It's hard to express how unexpectedly awesome Dinwiddie has been. George Hill 2.0. Maybe better? Definitely deserves a chance to continue starting with Russell in the backcourt when he's healthy.
Was there tonight
