Whose selling who during these interviews?

Sean : 1/6/2018 12:29 pm
I read Accorsi’s book and he described Coughlin’s interview back in 2004. Coughlin opened the interview with a statement that came across like a missive. Coughlin came prepared with how he would fix the Giants & what he believed in.

It feels different now. The Pats coordinators are interviewing with multiple teams & from all indications they aren’t going to take a job for the sake of it.

I’m fascinated with the process. If the Giants had a conviction for either Pats coordinator, how could they not make a verbal offer on the spot?
I think

you are severely undervaluing the scarcity of NFL head coaching vacancies if you think that these guys are trying to "pick and choose" which team they want to work for.

I also think you are SEVERELY undervaluing the scarcity of the coaching vacancy of one of the flagship historical stable franchises like the Giants and the Bears.
How do you know they didn’t make an offer?

And in McDaniels case, he has to pick carefully. This could be his last life as a coaching candidate. Another failure could mean he’s labeled a career coordinator.
This BB chatter has me curious.

I don't believe the Kratch report but maybe they met with BB to get his feedback on both coordinators. That meeting could have understandably started some false rumors. Who would know better than BB their strengths and weaknesses?
The first thing out of all these coordinators mouths

should be how they would fix the oline and improve the run game. That is what Gettleman stated he wanted to do and they should have taken note.
Three aspects
idiotsavant : 1/6/2018 1:38 pm : link
1. What works in the league schematically right now.
2. How do you run the communications and operations to achieve your football goals on the field annually, weekly.
3. The people part. What values inform your personal decisions, and how you operate, and how do you demonstrate those values.
Typo

To an interview they want the job.
Also HC jobs don't come around often, you are only the hot assistant for a little while.
One bad season and it is over.
I think it goes both ways. The coaches being interviewed should

want all these jobs so maybe they can pick the one they like best or at least have second choices or fall back options. The teams should want to sell them on their team for the very same reason. Obviously both sides are interested or they wouldn't interview in the first place. Now some may coaches may be doing it for the experience and to keep their name out there but I believe for the most part they find all these jobs on their list of real interest.
This is one of the best coaching jobs

in all of sports, if the guy needs to be sold to come here I don't want him. There are people that would cut off there left nut to be here.

That's a big stumbling block for any Coach
