I always watch 1-6 (and Creed) a bit after Christmas and finish them up before the new year begins. It seems as if a lot of people my age (30, gonna be 31) took a liking to those movies. I guess it's because they were the old classics from "the old days" (70s 80s, lol).
The one thing I cannot do is watch the fights at the end for reason. What do you think of the series? Corny? Way too Philly for you? The main thing I like about the movies is the characters. I liked Rocky, Adrian, Apollo and of course Paulie is the one close jerk off friend (brother in law). I always thought IV was my favorite then I grew older and it got weird to me. SO many montages! Spoilers!
Which one is your favorite? Least?
An older guy I worked with said he couldn't stand them and was sick of them by the 3rd one. I was only 3 when 5 was out in the movies.
Always loved "the Eye of the Tiger" song.
Interesting (to me) side note: the part of Creed where Rocky is in the hospital was filmed in the hospital I work at, Crozer Chester Medical Center. My office is literally in the hallway that appears on film.
I liked how you started but I edited the next part. :-)

The second was very good. After that they were pretty bad.

I don't really disagree, but bad can still be entertaining. Describes half of hollywood's output in the 80s lol
used to love on TV when 1 would end and go right into 2. To me those are the best ones.
3 and 4 are on the same plane for me. And are all about the montages and the music. Look at the shiny muscles.
5 sucks ass. But yet I know a bunch of lines from it.
All the others are completely different movies.
the rest not even close,
I get what you mean. Got any good current movies to recommend for me So that I do not have to keep on watching the same old stuff? I don't even know what the hell is out anymore. I always check out the DVD/Blu-Ray section in Walmart in town but nothing looks interesting enough for me to invest in the time, plus I just don't recognize any of the new releases nor could I give you one sentence on what they were about if you held a gun to my head.
Only thing that looked familiar to me was CatDog (the Nickelodeon show) on DVD. the entire series.
I went back home last weekend to see my mom. I took her to Jersey Mikes in Bayonne (where she still lives) to get sandwiches, and Chuck Wepner was actually there. My mom and him spoke for like 15-20 mins. I shook his hand and said hi. He says he has another movie coming out in May of this year called the 'New Jersey Assassin.' He's 79 but you really wouldn't know it if you saw him in person. He's huge and his hand absolutely completely covered mine when he shook my hand. And even more surprising, depsite being a boxer all of those years and taking Muhamad Ali to the limit in his prime, Chuck is still all there mentally.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

Sidenote: The real Rocky, that the character is based on, Chuck Wepner, aka 'The Bayonne Bleeder', from my hometown of Bayonne, is a family friend. He worked as a bouncer at a bar in Bayonne that my grandmother and grandfather owned and was very good friends with them for a very long time. My mom grew up knowing him.

Thanks man. :)
2 through 4 got progressively sillier, but I still find them watching and entertaining. 5 is one of the worst movies ever filmed, 6 was a worthy nostalgic effort but still pretty silly
Anyway, I took out V and dropped it straight in the trash. Where it belongs.

II is the polarizing one. People either love it (probably because Rocky wins) or hate it. I used to think it was my favorite, I think because the younger me liked seeing him win. But, I find it tough to watch now. However, I still get goosebumps from the moment Adrian wakes to the end of the subsequent training montage.
I thought Creed was "ok," but not nearly as good as all the buzz it was getting.
This....
Rocky III is probably the best one IMO.
'THE RUSSIAN IS CUT.'
2 is as good a sequel as there is.
Admittedly, 3 and 4 start to get a little silly but are still highly entertaining. Clubber Lang and Drago are both perfect villains.
5 was a dumpster fire.
The biggest surprise to me out of all the movies is how well done both Rocky Balboa and Creed were so many years after the fact. Maybe the expectations were just lower but both held up well to the amount of time that had passed by I thought.
I pity the fool that doesnt lime rocky 3
I think the storyline in 2 is really strong, and winning the fight puts it on the same level as 1. I prefer 4 to 3 because of the cheesy montages and music. I wasn't a big fan of 3 at all.

The pantomiming in 3 was bad. You could see the punches were missing by a mile
To be honest, I don't even really remember what my expectations were going into Rocky Balboa. Even THAT movie is around 12-13 years old. I just remember thinking "Oh yeah? they're making a new movie? If handled right, it is not hard to re-end the series topping Rocky V"
I remember seeing Rocky Balboa with a group of friends at 1pm or so on opening day. The one friend of my friend got all paranoid thinking we wouldn't get in because it was sold out and he bought all of our tickets for us. I still never paid that guy back to this day...
I think other than our group and maybe one couple up front the entire theatre was empty.
"My ring's outside".
"My ring's outside".
this makes me cringe "beat him up dad he took my room"
ugh
As someone said earlier, tho- one is a great story and the boxing is ancillary- the rest except 5 are fun. Creed was ok, IMO. Definitely better than 3- Balboa, but not as good as the first two.

Yeah, 5 is bad. I can't watch the first 90% of it ever again but I'll still tune in for the last 10 minutes to see the street fight.

the Rocky series is the best of all time. My order of preference is 1 & 2 (like them both equally), 4, 3, Balboa, 5 & Creed. The only reason I have Creed last is because I haven't seen it multiple times like the others, and it didn't WOW me the only time I had seen it.
