I always watch 1-6 (and Creed) a bit after Christmas and finish them up before the new year begins. It seems as if a lot of people my age (30, gonna be 31) took a liking to those movies. I guess it's because they were the old classics from "the old days" (70s 80s, lol).
The one thing I cannot do is watch the fights at the end for reason. What do you think of the series? Corny? Way too Philly for you? The main thing I like about the movies is the characters. I liked Rocky, Adrian, Apollo and of course Paulie is the one close jerk off friend (brother in law). I always thought IV was my favorite then I grew older and it got weird to me. SO many montages! Spoilers!
Which one is your favorite? Least?
Rocky - classic.
Rocky II - painfully slow at times but the final training montage/fight saves it.
Rocky III - from Thunderlips to Clubber - just a fantastically entertaining movie.
Rocky IV - Hearts on Fire was my ringtone for years. It's basically 4-5 music videos pasted together to make a movie, but I get sucked in every time.
Rocky Balboa - Not great but much better than it had any right to be.
Creed - I thought this was overrated, but when the music kicks in for the last scene I got chills.
but I find the story of Sylvester Stallone trying to get Rocky made more inspirational than Chuck Wepner's real story (though Stallone denies Wepner provided any inspiration to the Rocky movies).
If you haven't researched that at all you should.

He only started denying it when Wepner started asking for money- which, btw he eventually got after a long legal battle. It was early interviews with Stallone acknowledging Chuck as the inspiration that won it for him, if I'm not mistaken.
Total dreck but a fun movie nonetheless.
How about Rocky singlehandedly bringing down communism? In an hour and a half.
How about that laughable speech at the end. You can change, I can change, we all can change. Couldn't even bother to get the translation correct. So terrible, it's good.

Beginning with the opening sequence. Two gloves in flag colors of the US and USSR. Colliding and then exploding. Imagine that meeting where it was pitched.

Hoe exactly does "youse" translate? Is that considered the familiar you (pl.)?
I forgot the best part. During the training montage when Rocky outsmarted the KGB agents who are following him in the limo by ducking into the woods (?)
If only Hitler's troops had known of this maneuver during Operation Barbarossa, Europe might look very differently today.
Interesting (to me) side note: the part of Creed where Rocky is in the hospital was filmed in the hospital I work at, Crozer Chester Medical Center. My office is literally in the hallway that appears on film.
My wife was born in Crozer.
Total dreck but a fun movie nonetheless.
You forgot about Thunderlips

You have to think about it in the context of the Cold War and the time that it was released. I remember being a kid and watching it in the theater and it was awesome! Such a pro-American story, taking it to the Russians, they cheat, killed an American hero, James Brown, American heart, etc.

That's Rocky III, not IV.
My bad.
Oh man, my buddies would kill me if they saw this.

Best part about Rocky IV is James Brown singing “Living in America” as Apollo enters the ring.
