Wow. And people think the Giants
Section331 : 1/8/2018 12:00 pm : link
aren't a popular destination. This is a curious hire to say the least.
Nagy..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/8/2018 12:02 pm : link
and Gruden might have a beef as to who is the best Arena QB to coach!

Probably more like the worst coach who was an Arena QB but.....
I think

I do not think McDaniels wants any part of the Colts Job. Lunetic owner and no clear answer at QB
So not
jvm52106 : 1/8/2018 12:04 pm : link
calling on the leagues top rusher more than 11 times in game you lose by 1 point gets you a HC gig... Nice...
Some thought McDaniels was going there
Canton : 1/8/2018 12:05 pm : link
even some rumblings Wilks could if McDaniels didn't take it.

That door us now closed.

I'm not sure he called the plays, Reid was holding the play chart and speaking into his headset during play calls. A curious time for Reid to take back play calling, if true.

Maybe that was Nagy's pitch - hey, we were 5-0 with me calling plays, until that fat fuck changed his mind!

That is classic Andy Reid. Over reliance on the passing game
McDaniels
Rong5611 : 1/8/2018 12:12 pm : link
I think he stays put, becomes Belichek's successor at some point (not suggesting BB is coming to the Giants)
DeFilippo
DCPollaro : 1/8/2018 12:14 pm : link
still available for OC
Who?
ZogZerg : 1/8/2018 12:16 pm : link
Chiefs OC for 1 year.
I guess they are hoping Andy Reed's "QB Genius" where's off on this guy. I wonder how many boxes this guy checked for the Bears fans?

Hoping they've found the next Sean McVay
Looked up Nagy.
Beezer : 1/8/2018 12:18 pm : link
Even as a high school coach he never held a head coaching position. Was always an offense guy.
Right, and Reid didn't even let him call plays
ZogZerg : 1/8/2018 12:24 pm : link
on Saturday.

I'll be shocked if this works out for the Bears.
We are the prettiest girl in the room by far
BigBlueDownTheShore : 1/8/2018 12:25 pm : link
You have the option to draft your QB of the future OR keep a future HOF on the roster.

Defensively you have some good pieces, and offensively you need an Oline, and game changing RB.
We hired McAdoo
HomerJones45 : 1/8/2018 12:26 pm : link
I don't think we are in a position to critique other team's hires.

Which turned out to be a big mistake. Same thing happened to Doug Pederson.
The only downside
Phil in LA : 1/8/2018 12:31 pm : link
to the Bears and Raiders having coaches alread is they get first access to the pool of assistants.

We're also the sluttiest, so we win both ways.
These owners and GM's have to project how a coach
arniefez : 1/8/2018 12:33 pm : link
will handle going from being a coordinator to a head coach which is a totally different skill set. How many times the OC in KC ran the ball Saturday has zero to do with whether or not he'll be a good HC. Who knows what his marching orders were from Andy Reid?

Head Coach in the NFL is a really difficult job. There are so few good game day coaches. So few who can manage the clock at the and of halves and games, use the 2 pt conversation correctly, adjust during games on the fly.

But putting a staff together and the other 6 days of the week are just as important in a different way in 2018. Tom Coughlin was great the other 6 days, not so great at putting together a staff and pretty good on game game day until his last few years. It's impossible to know until a guy has the job.
Always have the Axe ready and Sharp
Alwaysblue22 : 1/8/2018 12:42 pm : link
No matter who you hire...but then again ..how many Head coaches can you keep on payroll after you have chopped off the heads of a number of them?

That is true, but I'm sure most of the guys interviewing have an idea of who they want to work with, and have spoken to them about it. If you're a defensive coach, and you're close to, say, McDaniels, you may wait before agreeing to work for Nagy.

Like when the Eagles hired that former QB Doug Pederson?

Doug Pederson! Hahaha!!

Uggggg...
Nagy has as much experience as Wilks
larryflower37 : 1/8/2018 2:00 pm : link
Both 1-year coordinators and only worked for 1 HC.

Both these guys are riding the coattails of their head coaches.
Bears
Giantslifer : 1/8/2018 2:21 pm : link
Who in their right mind would work for da Bears. Cheapest owners ,even cheaper than Marlins.
Town is still living in 1985, my guess is that is the pay structure.
At least the Browns have tons of draft picks.

Jesus, this place is absolutely insufferable right now.

Sounds like Vic Fangio could be available for DC
12aob : 1/8/2018 2:39 pm : link
He did well for Niners and the Bears D has improved. Any interest for him in that role?

You should probably take a break for a couple of months.
Come back when you can handle all of this.
Not a bad hire though
Breeze_94 : 1/8/2018 3:12 pm : link
Alex Smith had a great year and Mahomes looked pretty good in his start, especially considering how raw he was considered as a prospect. This is a good move for a team that is looking to develop their young QB. Trubisky is also very athletic so he can incorporate some of the RPO concepts that they use in KC.

to coach.

No beef there, Fatman!

First, here is a link to Nagy's player stats in the Arena League:Nagy

Now Gruden: Player Link, and Coaching Link. Gruden was a much better player (From ArenaFan)

Quote:
Played six seasons with the Tampa Bay Storm, leading the team to a 68-13 overall record as the team`s starting quarterback and four ArenaBowl championships. He was named League MVP in 1992 and MVP of ArenaBowl VII. Gruden was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

The best coach is the THIRD current Arena football QB coaching in the NFL...Sean Payton!

New Bears’ HC Matt Nagy has successfully recruited DC Vic Fangio, convincing him to stay in Chicago on a three-year contract, per source.
