Worth it in your opinion? A group of about a half dozen couples are headed to Jamaica next month, sans kids. Wives are intent on sitting close/together on the 3-4 hour flight from BWI. Some couples are fine with dropping the $15 per for the earlybird check-in. Others are not. Crazy to think there is bickering over such an amount considering the overall cost of the trip, but alas… I have no experience using it. For those who have, is it worth it?
It does not guarantee you an A boarding group. You will probably get an A number though. It also doesn’t guarantee you’ll all be sequential in boarding number.
For this situation, I’d definitely do it but you’ll still probably have to “protect seats” until the whole crew is seated.
Very well said ! +1 !
I hope you are going to an all inclusive resort in Jamaica, otherwise look forward to itemization.
And early bird check in is totally worth it.
Also, fuck everyone who brings a giant bag that barely fits in the overhead compartment. Just check the damn bag.
If the flight is full, you can pretty much bank on NOT being able to save seats. I have heard of major rows happening over the saving of seats and the flight attendants will side with those who want to sit.
I'd encourage you to spring for it.

Trying to save seats for non-payers, be prepared to have arguments with other travellers. And the other passengers will be in the right. There's no saving seats on Southwest. You should have your entire party of non-payers really try to check in at the exact earliest moment possible and then they will have a chance. Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to say something to the people that use an overhead bin at the front of the plane and then go sit in a totally different part of the plane...Fuck you, you soulless, self-centered fuck-faces. You deserved to be punched in the face repeatedly. Thanks, just needed to get that off my chest.
Bullshit ! If you want guaranteed overhead storage pay for early boarding on Southwest or whoever else your flying on. Overhead storage is first come first serve. Very often its the flight attendants who tell you to use storage in the front before going back to your seat. If you don't like that you have three alternatives. 1) Fly First/Business class 2 ) Pay for early boarding. 3) Do a gate side check in. This is usually free even on airlines that charge for checked baggage.
There's a social contract at work and I've never had a flight attendant tell me which bin to use unless there were no others available.
