While i understand Wilks will be in here for an interview tomorrow and we have already met with the Coordinators from the Pats, dont we have to wait until the Pats are eliminated? I mean, dont we have to MAKE SURE that BB isnt going anywhere before we make our decision? I couldnt handle us making a swift decision and then Pats lose this weekend coming and bam come next week it comes out that BB is leaving NE.

What do you guys think? Do we make the decision ASAP or do we slow play it and see if any of this smoke from NE means fire? Do the Giants maybe already have a strong idea as to whether or not he is staying or going?

discuss....
First instinct is to wait and see on BB

but, I was told it's "not happening" ... probably due to BB's contract and Pats would seek draft pick compensation that might be unreasonable. If NYG is moving on, they surely know something.
Belichick will be coaching

New England next year.
I see your point.....there is a fine line to getting your #1 choice if
GiantBlue : 1/8/2018 2:21 pm : link
you are Gettleman or Mara and waiting to see what else shakes free as the playoffs move along.

If Gettleman promises to handle the draft himself, than he doesn't have to rush into things, but in a musical chairs world.....he could be left settling.

I look forward to see what everyone contributes on this.

Jon-

Thats my first reaction. I am sure they would get some kind of word or hear something that would make them feel confident in moving on and selecting one of the guys they interviewed.
I would think
yankeeslover : 1/8/2018 2:23 pm : link
thru back channels, that Mara would already know if BB is going to be available or not... same as with Mcdaniels. even though they cant announce Mcdaniels yet, you would think they have an idea if he is willing to accept the job or not.
I can't imagine NOT paying the price for Belichick

If he's our coach I believe strongly we win at least one Super Bowl in the next five years. There's a further consideration...

A big part of Belichick's coaching philosophy revolves around creating an environment where winning is sustainable. Given his feelings for the Giants I think there's a good chance he'd leave something after his retirement (and who knows when that is...he shows no signs of slowing down) that would leave this organization in the best possible state.

If Belichick is open to coming here (we don't know, but John Mara might), then pull out the fucking stops and make it happen.
Sadly I must relate

that they cannot wait for this long-shot scenario. However when big egos collide , earthquake tremors can be felt. So hire a coach. Let him fill his staff, then fire him if BB does make it unbearable for Kraft to keep him.

Ever hear of Joe Maddon & Rich Renteria ? Not exactly the same circumstance , but kind of. Epstein pulled a fast one . Giants need an organization-wide increase in speed , including in the front office and ownership levels. These guys are brain dead. DG seems like an All-American nut slicer. I’m glad they have him.
I think they can agree to hire, let's say McDaniels,
Simms11 : 1/8/2018 2:29 pm : link
and then turn around and let McDaniels go back to NE, if BB would come here. After the last game McDaniels will be free to be hired. Those kind of things could probably be worked out, however waiting is not an optimal plan.
I am quite certain that Mara

knows better than anyone, who is not with the Patriots, whether or not BB is going to be available.
Belichick
Breeze_94 : 1/8/2018 3:09 pm : link
isn't happening.
Put it this way...
ryanmkeane : 1/8/2018 3:24 pm : link
if Giants pass on Wilks, they are either hiring Shurmur or McDaniels. If they don't hire Shurmur or McDaniels, they are hiring Belichick.
Quinn has a better chance to be HC
Alwaysblue22 : 1/8/2018 3:36 pm : link
Than BB does.
I hope they make a decision soon
Jay on the Island : 1/8/2018 5:20 pm : link
Gus Bradley is available as DC and he would be a great hire especially if Shurmur is the HC.

I agree. Have they actually interviewed Shurmur?
Mad Dog was saying on Sirius today ...
DonQuixote : 1/8/2018 6:18 pm : link
... that he spoke with "someone who should know" and that the Giants are not involved with BB at all. I thought that was stronger than Belichik's necessary denial while being in the midst of the playoffs.
LOL

Belichick isn't going anywhere. You don't need pretend inside sources to know that.
