Yes, you are correct. There are no guarantees. But, citing one player that did well in the D League that didn't do the same in the NBA is equally meaningless.
Instead, you would be better off acknowledging that he seems to have improved in a couple of key areas that failed him w the Jazz.
1) he has improved his strength greatly (no longer the frail guy we saw at Michigan)
2) he no longer seems to have a lottery pick primadonna attitude
3) I like his ability to beat people off the dribble, something that only THJ on this team currently has
Burke is average and I think he's a pretty skilled offensive player. A bench guy.
For him to stick long term he'll need to play defense too.
Clearly the Knicks didn't want him to get to the showcase and be a FA. I think, given how he's played and their need at G, that's a good call. Certainly they have some idea of what they're doing with the guy as they've had him all year.
Not a savior, but I think he can be a second unit guy and against some teams I can see him playing with Frank (if the 2 guard matchup is a good one for Frank).
We'll see. At any rate, can't be less of a contributor than Sessions.
Welp, there goes any chances of the Knicks picking in the top 10. Trey Burke, Michigan legend paired alongside with fellow Michigan Man Tim Hardaway.. championship or bust.
Again, this is the exact same story people were telling about Fredette two years ago. I'll believe it when he shows something in the NBA.
>> "Improved" based on improving his strength, handle, work rate. I've seen him several times. I am not telling you he's John Wall, but he is far better offensively than any lead guard on the current roster.
is like predicting a Wisconsin RB will fail bc of Ron Dayne...dig a little deeper, don't just come up with one situation and decide it will determine all future outcomes
the PG position. I know everyone is enamored with Nitklina but he shows nothing on the offensive end and his on the ball defense is below average.
Knicks are still woefully thin and bad at the pg position. Even if you told me that frank will end up a legit starting pg the Knicks still need to add a lot more talent to the guard position. Without hardaway the Knicks have to boast the crappiest backcourt in the NBA and by a wide margin. Maybe one day the Knicks will have a backcourt...god forbid.
I'm concerned about Frank's offense too, but his defense is suffocating. Just has to cut back on fouls, which is common for rookies earning their stripes with shitty, crooked NBA refs.
He has actually played quite well for the g league team, he is no savior but sessions is just taking up space

if he were to do some grunt work and resign himself to being a catch/shoot 3 bomb specialist, he'd have a place in the league
he's actually not a bad athlete at all, but stubbornness was the biggest thing that killed his career

Definitely a factor. Need guys who can fill it up.
Have to assume it is a center
He'd brick that too

The NBA G league, sure
