How Weak is the 2018 WR Class?

arcarsenal : 1/8/2018 7:31 pm
There are several guys whom I haven't seen enough of, so I don't know of it is or isn't as weak as I think it is - but it seems to me like there aren't many big time WR prospects in this upcoming draft.

Calvin Ridley is one of the top guys and as much as I love him, I worry about his size. I think he'll struggle in the NFL against some more physical DB's. It's also possible he has another level to his game that's getting hidden on this team because of how run heavy they are. The talent is there - he's just been underutilized. I see an NFL WR there, but I'm not sure if Calvin will ever be a true WR1. He actually reminds me a little bit of Robby Anderson.

Courtland Sutton is sort of hard to read given that he's coming out of SMU but what little I've seen has been impressive.

Not sure what to make of Arden Tate since Francois was hurt in the opener this year. I'm not even sure he's declaring. Big kid with lots of potential, though.

Maybe Sy or those who are spending more time watching these kids can throw some other names out there to look for.

Just seems to me like there are fewer big names at the position than I can remember there being in a while.
Christian Kirk from Texas A&M

Will definitely be one of the first WR's chosen in the draft.
Big receiver from Georgia

Wims at 6-4,215 is intriguing.

Agreed. I think he’s going to be very productive at either the inside slot or outside...
How weak it looks now is different from

and how weak it will look after these guys have been in the league for five years. Wide receivers and running backs can emerge from obscure programs and small schools.

The flip side is true too. Guys who seem like can't miss stars out of college fizzle in the NFL all the time. We can all think of those guys. There are a few every year.

Kirk has a little OBJ in him.

James Washington is another that will be at the top of the WR list. The SMU boys are somewhere up there as well.

Doesn't seem like its star studded but solid throughout.. just like every year. That's one position that will never be short on talent. WR and RB will always have talented players available.

Kirk is the guy who shredded Arkansas earlier in the year, right?
But I agree with arc...

Receiver isn’t the strength of the draft.

Washington had a great year with Mason at OSU, but I think he still needs to run well at the Combine. And B12 receivers are also a bit stigmatized by playing in the Swiss cheese D conference.

Eq. St. Brown is a day 2 pick as it stands and might be

able to work himself into lower first round conversation.
Kirk just killed Wake Forest...

in their bowl game. I think he was like 15/160/3tds.

Stud.

Sort of bigger Steve Smith, Sr.
Drew Moore is a bit of an unheralded...

QB prospect from Mizzu.

His top target was JMon Moore. Up and down with his production but has good size and seems pretty smooth. Would be curious where Sy has him...

The other OK St. kid is good too. I like Washington a little more, though.
From a Giants perspective
Dankbeerman : 1/8/2018 8:44 pm : link
we should look at a guy with some long speed and the ability to elevate to get the ball. We dont need a guy that dominates targets and runs slants all day.

And a return specalist with a homerun threat would be perfect. A Will Fuller type
Auden Tate

Played hurt most of the year. He has great hands , a big receiver who goes and gets it
Steve Ishmael

My favorite is Anthony Miller out of Memphis

Moore? Great athlete, 5-11 210lbs or so. Solid return guy as well.
Wr was also weak in 17

And I doubt teams will reach this year like last year. It's a great year to be a free agent at.

Talent on offense is very strong at rb, even stronger then last year. Barkley, Guide, Michel, kid fro sdsu , kid from USC ... just to point out a few.
My sleeper

Stanley Morgan Jr. from Nebraska. I think this kid has superstar potential. Doesn't get much hype because Nebraska hasn't been good lately but he is a great talent and had good production as well. Really fun guy to watch play.
although ^^^
Breeze_94 : 1/9/2018 12:48 am : link
they are saying Morgan may go back to school so who knows. He also said earlier this season that he might "make a business decision" and sit out in order to prepare for the draft
I was impressed
