Watching that final play unfold last night I was reminded of the razor thin margin by which we won SB 42.
After the Plaxico td to take the lead, just like Georgia, we were in a cover 2 (iirc) in the waning seconds. Brady launched one to Moss on a go route up the left sideline. And just like the Georgia safety, Gibril Wilson inexplicably failed to cover his back half of the field. (I mean, you have ONE responsibility there: don't let anyone get behind you). He was roasted.
Would have gone down as the most heartbreaking loss had not Corey Webster saved the day from the trailing position and knocked the pass away (which may have hung just a tad). Moss also helped us by not high pointing the catch attempt.
Anyway, let us now praise Corey Webster!
Don't forget about Mitchell.
Thank god for Corey "I'm Suddenly Amazing" Webster.
Just re-watched it, the pass went about 70 yds. How much further can a QB throw the ball?
Thank god for Corey "I'm Suddenly Amazing" Webster.
Corey Webster took a lot of crap for a guy who was real inmportant to one of the great runs in NFL history (that play, GB interception etc.)
For me the Brady hail mary in SB46 takes eons. For some reason I think Gronk is going to get there and catch it every time I see it. I was at the game and I swear I think I passed out as the ball was in the air.
Funny that SB 46 also ended with a long heart-in-your-throat Brady pass.
Another guy who doesn't get enough credit for the SB46 run is TE-Jake Ballard. Here was an undrafted rookie playing his heart out on a knee that was so screwed up he'd never play the same again. He made his mark giving us all that he had.
Not sure but Kenny Philips and Chase Blackburn sure did their part too in 'saving' the day.
