This is a great video. Daniel Jeremiah brought some good points about Sam Darnold that I didn't know with coaching his turnovers. He likes Darnold better than Rosen. He says Darnold can do things to extend plays that Rosen can't.
With all that being said I really want Josh Allen. He would be the perfect pick if Eli stays. Dan says that he has the highest ceiling and could end up being better than Wentz.
I was against picking QB at #2, but now I am warming to it.

I'm not saying he'll end up as good as Eli or Rodgers and there are definitely concerns given his slide in play this year, but he's still the most intriguing guy to me.
Eli is going to be kept anyway and will very likely open the season as the starter. The transition will either take place sometime during the season or in 2019.
Either way, Sam Darnold would win more games in the NFL right now than Rosen. If the Browns pick Darnold and start him right away, they are going to be better than any team starting Rosen right away. And the reason why is because of what Jeremiah said. Darnold can create. Rosen is a pure pocket passer...who is going to get hit a lot and who cannot escape pressure. To me, this is one of the most important qualities in the modern NFL. If you have no escapability, I don't think you are going to be a successful QB in today's NFL. Look at the quality of OL coming out of college, vs the quality of pass rushers. You are not going to have many clean pockets in today's game.
If Darnold goes 1st I would prefer to see the Giants trade down in the 4-5 range and then take either Allen or Mayfield. My one concern trading past the Colts is that they will likely trade it to a team looking for a QB. The Jets will reportedly strongly consider trading up for a QB so I expect the Colts to trade down unless Barkley is there.
Either way, Sam Darnold would win more games in the NFL right now than Rosen.
I disagree Rosen is more NFL ready. Darnold has a bigger upside but he isn't as advanced as Rosen.
If he gets hit from behind mid-throwing motion, and fumbles, as he did against Ohio State, well, it's nearly impossible to avoid a fumble in that situation.
You have to look at the fumbles, and as Jeremiah stated, you can correct some of the ball security stuff. But when you look at their abilities as quarterbacks, Darnold is far superior.
Barkley will not be taken at #2 by the Giants....

I hope he is taken at #2 just to teach you not to speak in absolutes.

There is no LT type defender in this draft. If there was or a Julius Peppers, Charles Woodson etc. then that would make sense. I do not see a defensive player worthy of the 2nd overall pick. There isn't a consensus top defender in this draft. The Giants need to find their next QB first and then worry about the rest of the roster.
I have been predicting Allen to the Giants for months. Most mocks are having him mid to late first round, but I don't see that. I predict he will wow at the combine and his stock will rise.
I think the Rosen injuries and Mayfield's antics might scare the Giants, so I think they go Darnold or Allen, whoever is available at #2, and will not trade down to risk losing both.

Browns will likely to take Darnold. That leaves the Giants with Rosen, whose injury history may well be preclusive. Or Allen, who isn't worth the #2 pick. My guess is that the Giants either take Barkley or trade down. I would tentatively prefer the latter.

DonQ I think you make a good point, that perceptions can certainly change mightily as the process goes on with the all-star games, combine, pro days, and team visits still to go. The perception that Rosen and Darnold are 1-2 is subject to change. I personally don't see Darnold going anywhere but #1 overall but you never know. Who thought some picture of Laremy Tunsil smoking weed through a gas mask was going to be leaked on draft day?
The Broncos and Jets are both hot for QBs at 5 and 6, with other teams like the Cardinals or Redskins if they lose Cousins possibly in the mix as well. The Giants should just go get the guy they like best. I believe Cleveland will ultimately take Darnold at 1. So if the Giants love him, they should try and trade up to 1. If not, and they prefer Allen or Mayfield but don't quite think they are great value that high, don't get cute and try and maneuver for extra picks while landing them. Just take them at 2. Rosen is likely to go at 2, so if they love him, great.

The thing is also, there are a lot of teams that need QBs right there at the top of the draft...Browns, Giants, Broncos, Jets, that's four of the top 6 picks that might go QB. I don't think there is any way Allen goes below 6, he might go #1...who knows.
Then there are teams in the next 10 that might want a QB, Bengals, Redskins, Cardinals, Chargers, not to mention the Bills.
If any of those top QBs drop at all, those teams will be wanting to trade up.
Cleveland might bite to get Darnold/Barkley at the top of the draft, and we'd be able to do a quick Oline rebuild with three 2nd's!

Barkley will not be taken at #2 by the Giants....
They had just drafted Simms a few years before, so they didn't need a QB. They had their young franchise QB already.
The Giants currently do not have their future franchise QB.
And no, Barkley will not be the pick at #2.
