Damien Harris Returning to Alabama for Senior Season

arcarsenal : 1/10/2018 2:10 pm
A lot of people thought he'd declare, but it looks like he's returning to Tuscaloosa for one more year.

Scarborough, however, did declare.

I like Harris more but Big Bo has some Brandon Jacobs in him and he'd be a nice player to pair with Gallman if he were to slip into the 3rd/4th rd.
Harris played high school ball close to me

Doesn't seem like he should be a senior already. Time flies.
So many good backs this year

makes sense. I wonder what round grade they gave him?

I believe Harris was projected as a 3rd rd back in this draft - but obviously there's no way to know.

I'd guess that's about where he'd have fallen if he did declare, though.
Makes sense

only 20 years old, not much wear and tear on him because he has shared carries and sat behind D.Henry and Kenyan Drake his freshman year.

Why not go back to Alabama as the featured player in that offense and give yourself a chance at being a sure-fire first round pick instead of a day 2-3 guy.
he was ok in Wolf Hall

Because the featured player will be the freshman QB Tua that led them to the title or Jalen Hurts. On a side note, I give it 50/50 that Hurts jumps to a different school.
Damien is a great RB

This may be a decision based more on the number of good RBs in the 18 draft vs what is expected in the 19 draft. But as far as his personal resume, he has 2 key things left to prove:

1- His receiving ability. Only had a dozen receptions this season. May be tough to improve here given that Josh Jacobs is the more polished pass catching RB on the team

2- prove that he can be a workhorse 20-25 carry per game type of back. He averaged only about 10 carries per game this season. Will be a challenge for him to get more touches next season due to a likely shift in play calling to more passes (due to Tua and 3 superstar WRs) and what will surely be the emergence of Najee Harris getting carries.
