looie : 1/10/2018 4:26 pm
Just need to know 2 things: 1. best BBQ place in town; 2. best Mexican place in town (and I mean authentic Mexican -- no Chili's crap). Thanks.
We go once a week to Molinito's. There are umpteen great places

in Tucson, so I rate them by how much I like their salsa. We really like Molinito's.

Phoenix, unless you're going str8 to Tuscon
There's so many good Mexican restaurants, you really can't go wrong

El Guero Canelo is great for Sonoran dogs- but you should get the full experience, too. Some of my personal favorites:

Rosa's on Fort Lowell
El Charro on Court Ave
La Parilla Suiza on Speedway

The best BBQ I ever had in Tucson was Mr K's BBQ on Park Ave. Brushfire BBQ is alright, too.
I've got a friend here who knows Tuscon

pretty well. If I hear back from him, I'll let you know. I've used Tripadvisor a lot, and from my reading of it, I'd suggest Holy Smoke for bbq and Cafe Poca Cosa for Mexican.
El Charro

When I was there, this place was an institution. Food unlike any I’ve had before or since. Their specialty is carne seca, which is this shredded dried beef - amazing and impossible to find elsewhere. It’s like my Mexican food Rosebud.

I can also strongly recommend El Charro

Classic Tucson...
You are better off skipping the BBQ
Giantology : 1/11/2018 9:34 am : link
And sticking to a strict Mexican Restaurant diet.

go to Pizzeria Bianco in downtown Tucson. The original is in Phoenix, but it is FANTASTIC pizza.

I remember seeing PB pop up at the top on a lot of "best pizza" lists and thought it was crazy to see it so high given all my favorite spots in NYC (and one in New Haven).

So I knew I had to check it out when I had to go out to Tucson. It was worth the hype and was up there with a lot of the NY greats.
I'm leaving today to spend the weekend in Tempe

if anyone wants to expand the list. Watching Rock and Roll marathoners.
