pretty well. If I hear back from him, I'll let you know. I've used Tripadvisor a lot, and from my reading of it, I'd suggest Holy Smoke for bbq and Cafe Poca Cosa for Mexican.
When I was there, this place was an institution. Food unlike any I’ve had before or since. Their specialty is carne seca, which is this shredded dried beef - amazing and impossible to find elsewhere. It’s like my Mexican food Rosebud.
go to Pizzeria Bianco in downtown Tucson. The original is in Phoenix, but it is FANTASTIC pizza.
I remember seeing PB pop up at the top on a lot of "best pizza" lists and thought it was crazy to see it so high given all my favorite spots in NYC (and one in New Haven).
So I knew I had to check it out when I had to go out to Tucson. It was worth the hype and was up there with a lot of the NY greats.

The best BBQ I ever had in Tucson was Mr K's BBQ on Park Ave. Brushfire BBQ is alright, too.
