. If he doesn’t get the Arizona job, Eagles QBs coach John DeFilippo becomes a man to watch. His contract is up in Philly, per sources, which would make him an interesting coordinator option for a lot of teams. Rumblings are that Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who interviewed with the Cardinals and Giants, would want DeFilippo to run his offense.
Meanwhile Wilks’ travels continue:

After interviewing with #azcardinals on Wednesday, Steve Wilks is scheduled to interview with the Colts on Friday. Cardinals have interviewed nine NFL assistants for HC job.

The name to watch for OC is Pep Hamilton. Eric Washington for DC not Al Holcomb.
But we’ll know tomorrow.
That is not a bad problem to have.

Too bad Wilks is interviewing with the Colts tomorrow Slade Jr.
Pep Hamilton, the pass-game coordinator and assistant head coach this past season, could be returning to the NFL. Hamilton was with the Browns before joining Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan before the 2017 season.
Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports shared some potentially interesting news regarding Hamilton on Tuesday afternoon via Twitter when he posted: “Don’t be shocked if Jon Gruden & the Raiders try & hire Michigan’s Pep Hamilton for his offensive staff.”
Also, Scott Turner, an offensive analyst this past season at Michigan, will join the Panthers staff, ESPN’s David Newton, who covers the Carolina Panthers, reported Tuesday. Norv Turner, Scott Turner’s father, is expected to be the offensive coordinator. A Michigan source, who wished to remain anonymous because the move has not been made official, confirmed Turner’s departure to The Detroit News...”

Washington is apparently getting the Panthers job if Wilks gets a HC job
With Wilks now a red-hot head coaching candidate, at least Rivera has another easy fix on-staff.
But there's a possible snag this time around.
Defensive line coach Eric Washington, who's helped mold the Panthers' front into one of the NFL's best over the past six seasons, seems like a no-brainer solution. Yet if Wilks heads elsewhere, the sense around the league is Washington would follow to become Wilks' defensive coordinator.
“ I think the system that they have here, if they lose (Washington), I think that's huge," defensive tackle Star Lotulelei said. "He and Sam (Mills III) do such a good job with the system and improving players. In my opinion, it'd be a big loss."
Since 2012, Washington's line has piled up a league-leading 219.0 sacks. Against the run in the same timeframe, Carolina has allowed the third-fewest yards per game (96.2). And Washington has done it by coaching up early-round picks like Kawann Short, late-round choices like Greg Hardy and guys who weren't wanted on draft day.
"Shoot man, going from being undrafted to being on the active roster - it speaks for itself," rookie defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. said. "He's been a key instrument to my success. He's helped me through this process, helped me get better, tightened up my technique. It speaks volumes."
Which brings us to one of Washington's coaching traits - speaking with volume. In the span of a practice, the former Naval Reserve officer often morphs from drill sergeant to stern teacher to loving parent.
"He's all about his business. Regardless of what you think about him, he's going to do his job. If you like it or not, whatever," Cox said. "He's just a real thorough coach."
If Washington ends up leaving with Wilks as a package deal, Rivera could look to recently released coaches like Jack Del Rio or Chuck Pagano. Another possibility could be Panthers linebackers coach Al Holcomb...”

From sources I’ve heard from the Giants were going to hire Wilks same day but Wilks wanted to finish interviewing with all the teams that requested him first before making a choice (not because he didn’t want the Giants job but to be fair and go through the process). It worked out for the Giants who still had an interview left with Studesville that had to be rescheduled.
Wilks impressed with his interview as it was more focused on the culture he hopes to build in the lockeroom as opposed to schemes. He’s seen as a combination of a Coughlin disciplinarian and a Tomlin players coach.

That’s what I heard a couple days ago. He had every intention of going through all three interviews and making his decision at the end of the week.

Possibly I mean look how quick Ron jumped at Norv when word got out that Wilks was targeting him. Anything can happen but the way I heard it was that Eric Washington and Wilks are tight. Wilks also has a better relationship with Gettleman than we thought. A lot of mutual respect there.

Lol maybe we have the same contact but I didn’t hear exactly how or as much detail. Only that the interview went really well.
