I'm guessing they don't dump him, but you have to wonder how Odell will react to some of his favorites possibly being jettisoned. The WR coach is most likely gone. I believe Wing is one of his best friends on the team. In most instances, the reaction would be, "so what?" but there seems to have been a conscious effort by the Giants in the past to put friendly faces around Odell.

Sorry but this is professional football. The league where they play for pay. Odell will just have to grow up and deal with it in a mature fashion. That past effort has meant diddly to the bottom line. Hog mollies are in, mollycoddling is out.
Also, alot of Rosas kicks were blocked. Are there any statistics that speak to was it the PKs fault or the blocking? If the line is not blocking, it doesn't matter who is the PK.
however, he doesn't have the leg to boom it. It was a bigger problem this year when the offense couldn't sustain drives and he was punting like 10 times a game! He made the most punts of any punter in the league this year. He definitely needs competition in camp next year, but he also needs to get stronger.

Nice theory but the numbers don't show that. He punted 93 times in 2016 and 95 times in 2017. And our offense was horrible in 2016 too.
Just an explanation.
2017 was his 5th year kicking in NFL. Likely kicked lots for Eagles in '13, then Pitt in '14, then lots for us in '15, '16 the team record was good, but the O still sucked so he punted lots; in '17 he was punting more them LOTS.
Kickers can 'lose it' like RBs lose a 1/2 step: quickly.
Who knows on '18...but I think of Matt Bryant.
With us 2002 and '03 PK and KO; did relatively little kicking in 04 w/ Fins and Colts, '05-08 PK and KO for Falcons; 2009-present: PK only.
Whatever happened in'03, possibly an injury that never really healed , forced cutting him in'04 so he got the leg to rest. Got restored for both duties O5-08 in Atlanta, but likely weakening in '08 so they got somebody for KOs. 6-7 years of lots of kicking.
Maybe Wing lost ' leg' with all the punting he did...needs a rest. Or it was an undisclosed injury.
Again not a defense. A 'just saying'
like he knew that almost every kick was gonna be blocked. He didn't extend fully into his kicks....he didn't have that "high hop" off his left foot you see right after his right makes contact with the ball...as if he was holding back in fear of getting injured while he was fully extended.
Yes, this was his worst year, but it's not that far off from how he did in 2014 and 2015. Last year was the only time he's been in the top half of the league in net y/p.
No Harris (best gunner), no Herzlich (ST captain), and constant turnover all over the punting unit. A punter who doesn't trust his teammates to protect him or cover is a punter whose head and mechanics are likely to go south.
Some teams seem to handle those sudden personnel changes better than others. Then again, some teams have real coaches running their special teams.
As others have said, an undisclosed injury is possible, but my guess would be a mental issue rather than a physical one.
BTW, I wasn't that impressed with Wing in 2016. He looked about average to me.

Perhaps, but his net punting average dropped four yards from 2016. That's a huge decline. He was 10th in the NFL in net punting last year and he has always been good with punts downed inside the 20. He wasn't good at that last year either.

I would say you could be partially right. His previous net was halfway between 2016 and 2017. That said, I don't think most BBI'ers felt Wing was a problem in 2015...I think they were generally pleased with the trade. (Of course anyone after Dodge would have looked great in comparison).
for the first time in his career I think. Speaks not only to his timing getting the kick off but perhaps an awful supporting cast. That's all on Quinn not having these idiots ready.
Interesting. You don't often hear that about a player's fourth season, but I suppose it's a possibility.
he's been punting four years now? he can turn in his key card along with rosas and Quinn.
Fun fact - there are entire websites dedicated to providing players' stats where you can learn things like that. He was the Steelers' punter for one season and has been with the Giants for three.
It really went south when Beckham went public with his all-in with the kicking net. You know what they say, 'once you go net..." That betrayal was the turning point in their relationship and the cause of Wing's precipitous fall...
We have to be the worst in loss of yards adding in the dreadful punt and kickoff return and coverage .
Punter can make a huge impact in field position and the
return game . Have to have a strong legged kicker for
the climate but have the ability to directional kick .
We have to do better than Wing ad maybe Rojas as well .
The special teams are a disaster in every phase of the game I would bet without looking that playoff teams have above
average punters and kickers . Having a dynamic return specialist can turn a game around as well .
Orrrrr (glass half full) he played a huge roll in locking up the 2nd pick versus the 4th or 5th, maybe lower.
I can only imgine the pictures Quinn has on Mara.
An irony of Reese's delusion that this was an SB contender: if he really thought that, then how could he go into the season with a rookie kicker?

The drop off WAS huge.
I wonder why?
Wow... he had FOUR kicks blocked... two FGs and two extra points. I must have blocked out a couple of those.

Good one buddy!
I had to double check that and you are correct... his numbers look even worse when you consider he was literally 50 percent between 30-49 yards.
Good bye

Probably pissed he didn't get invited to the boat trip

I mean, there are multiple guys who missed more than Rosas this year.

I was shocked too. He missed half of the kicks in the range where you most likely would have the MOST attempts during a season.

Brutal this season.
Blech.....I don't like him

C'mon gettleman. Dude is a legit weapon.
It's time for Mara to submit to the blackmail and buy Quinn's pictures no matter what it costs.
He had some horrible early games that cost us, settled down, and then was inconsistent again at the end of the year.
But I didn't realize he was dead last in net punting.
Guess I wasn't too off with this comment...
Can every other punter boom a punt in the NFL
Route 9 : 12/3/2017 4:51 pm : link
Besides Brad Wing?
If we don't cut him, we need to give him strong competition in camp.
Very unfortunate, he was one of the best in the NFL until this year.
Is this true? Mara is deciding which assistants stay and go? {can't tell if serious}
