speculated, will he want a QB at the top of the draft? BB does his homework on QB's and drafts them with less draft capitol and developed good QB's. He also has had Brady for a long time, but he took Brady in round 6. I am not trying to say Patricia gets to make that decision if he is the new head coach. However he certainly would have input into the decision making process and some influence into how it will all unfold. Also BB is a guy with a history of trading down. Will that be an influence on Patricia's thinking too.
there is a big difference when you don't have pressure for the QB to start eventually (or ever).
No you dont draft a guy projected for the 6th or 7th round in round 1 even if you know for sure he is a hall of famer. Maybe 3rd or 4th just to be safe but not 1st.
They probably thought Brady could be a competent QB in the NFL and can be groomed and lucked into a hall of famer. That is a difference. If Patricia is confident that we can find QB's later and develop them with Eli's 2 years remaining then we won't be taken these shaky QBs early..thank god.
BB has had some busts, by the way. Mallet was horrible.
Anyway, that's how I'd view it if I were him. Get me the best players - DG builds the team and I get them ready to play.
Who cares? You know how many times lots of QBs have gone early and they're all either busts or pedestrian? Eli Mannings and classes like in 04 don't happen every year. Usually once in a generation. We are delusional if we think we are going to find the next Eli that easy. All these Eli haters are going to be in for a rude awakening when they see how hard it is to replace him.
These QB's have many question marks. The best move is to draft BPA, Barkley, and develop a QB.

They would have drafted him in the first. They had a quality QB already and drafted a development guy in the 6th. And they lucked out big time. That wasn't a strategy so much as winning the lottery.

Lol, one of the dumber posts I've read.
I think he's trying to say, "If you've read the mock drafts and they usually have someone going in the 6th round, but they're wrong and it's the greatest QB of all time, you wait because all the other GMs only draft using mock drafts and are idiots so none of them know he's a hall of famer so you can wait because they're all dumb and or they all know he's supposed to go in the 6th round so won't take him high either."
Or something like that...
