Kim Jones on Patricia coaching style...

Chris684 : 1/12/2018 1:25 pm
Listening on WFAN, 2 points she shared directly from Pats players yesterday.

1) From Alan Branch: Accountability, Branch says MP preaches accountability so much so that these players start holding themselves more accountable than even he does.

2) Stephon Gilmore said that he's not sure if he's ever seen Patricia leave the facility and apparently meant it quite literally.

A disciplinarian and film junkie. Not bad.

A couple other quick notes. She says the NYG final 3 is accurate. She mentioned McDaniels potentially to Tennessee still on the table. Said watch for this after tomorrow night. She seemed to throw cold water on the dramatic stories of the power struggle in NE.

He's my easy favorite

just too much to like about him and none of it sounds like its BS. People are soured on the lack of success at the HC level from other BB coordinators and I get it. But that's the only "knock" I can think of which actually has nothing to do with Patricia.

Hope this gets done.
I'll be pissed if Giants don't get MP

working with Mariota. I know Mariota's not the greatest pure passer, but I feel like his potential's a lot higher than anything Mike Mularkey will get out of him.
Thanks....

I’d be good with any of the three for various reasons, but I think Patricia is my top choice. I hope he picks N.Y. over Detroit?! QB situation has me most concerned, but I think we’re just as solid as Detroit in most areas.
Certainly sounds like a Gettleman type guy

it's too bad all of this will most likely have to wait nearly a month as Pats will most likely be in the SB yet again..

Or would he possibly react differently if he knew his former behavior won't be tolerated?

Why? If anything, you should be hoping this guy can provide the leadership Apple needs
I'm happy with either of the New England coordinators

I'm partial to McDaniels because I believe he is an offensive innovator and we need his creativity in that space. It also makes sense that, with a new franchise QB on the horizon, to have someone that has worked so very closely with Tom Brady and can speak to what it takes and help mold them into a championship QB.

However, if MP has blown the Giants' brass away, and he's the guy, I trust he's going to be a great coach. And, anyone who sticks around on Bill Belichick's staff for as long as either of these guys have and been promoted along the way, thta means they have proven themselves to the most demanding football coach in the NFL, and I have nothing but respect for that. They've earned the respect and confidence of Bill. That means something.
my only concern is his command
Andy in Boston : 1/12/2018 2:53 pm : link
he seems mousy and quiet. (but so is BB) Obviously only players who play for him would know....as there isn't alot of press video out there on him.

Just want to make sure Mara and Gettleman think he can managed New York and the media and has the presence, etc.
Once again

Now it's Kim Jones going out on the limb and going against at least two or three BBI posters that told us it was going to be Wilks, boy she better start reading around here and fast, the people here even tell us what these guys think, she has never had that kind of Houdini like insight. I hope she wakes up and smells the mocha.

Kim Jones has more credibility than any of the "posters in the know" on this site. Her credibility equals or exceeds that of most of the "talking heads" and reporters as well.
Bielichick just tolerates the media ...

Never rude to them, just condescending in a nondescript kind of way. I wouldn't be surprised if Patricia is not the same way, when cornered.

So I'm forced to watch a lot of Pat games. My biggest issue with Patricia, and why I don't want him with the Giants.

When ever the Pats D is not playing well, and changes are needed. Belichek takes over on the side line, and ends up speaking with the Def. I get the feeling, that Bill still has a hand in the Def, and like other coaches from the new england tree, he may not be the coordinator we think.

Is it really shocking that Bill helps him out from time to time? If you have issues with some report at work your boss would probably help you too. Doesn't mean you can never get promoted.

If Patricia is the head coach here, he's not going to be making defensive playcalls.
It's too bad Kim Jones turned down the WFAN slot

The sad reality is that there's not much of a market for smart, knowledgeable, moderate voices on radio. It doesn't get people tuning in, even if the info is good and the takes are on point. Say what you want about Francesa, he knew the business and knew that he had to push certain buttons to create the type of content that gets the most people listening.

Two dopes and Maggie IMO. She's pretty damn good, knows her stuff, handles callers well, even ones she disagrees with and is a good listen. The two dopes though are nothing but blowhards to me, and more hard to take.

Too bad she's tied to the other two because she'd be good on her own, just maybe not in that time slot.

Innovator? How innovative was he when he was a carbon copy of McAdoo during his time with the Broncos? How innovative was he when he was OC of the 11th worst offense in NFL history with the Rams? If he's so innovative, why did the Patriots' offense improve in the year following his departure to become Denver's HC?

That's what I am thinking. My guess is that if MP is the new coach,(And I think he will be) Apple will be one of the first people he seeks out to let him know what the expectations are and the consequences if they are not met.

My point.. Is Belichek also coaching during film study, is he also developing the game plan during the week, and if so how good of a coordinator is Patricia?
Because without Belichek, Romeo Crennel and Mangini were horrible head coaches, and horrible Def coordinators.

Not true about Romeo Crennel. May not have been successful as a head coach. He absolutely was a quality defensive coordinator without Belichick.

He had a 11th in scoring defense in KC in 2010.
7th, 7th, 11th in scoring defense in Houston.
Sounds like
